Just received my DSSD - Awful experience!
seadweller3 replied to seadweller3's topic in The Rolex Area
So... I unpacked the watch and let it charge under the bright sunshine for 40 minutes and then came back in and took the following pic: The lume on this watch is very poor and IS GREEN on the dial markers. The only lume that is BLUE is the hands. The lume does not resemble anything remotely close to the pics I based my ordering decision on. Period, End of story. -

Well, here is the dealers initial reply: "Please take a picture of the lume if it varies from my picture I will be amazed! All the DSSD are initially aqua and then turn blue in about 30 seconds . You received a watch without a peral is that right?" So... I unpacked the watch, charged it for 50 seconds and here's what I got:  The pic in his advertisement shows all BLUE lume on the dial markers and hands. His second message about a few minutes after his first was the following: "If you read the thread about the Eurotimez watch you will see that most people are saying the same thing at least those who have received them. Most are sending to Vacs for relume. The thread by Gio was very misleading he relumed his watch Only the latest Noob factory DSSD have a uniformed lume no other version regardless of who you buy them from. Of course you shouldn't have received it without a pearl we actually make the pearls so it would appear it was never done if it is not in the pack I have come accross this a couple of times to be honest we use a thiners to flatten the top of the pearl and I think sometimes it may lossen the pearl."   I did read Gio's thread and saw his before and after pics. His lume was all BLUE. Ohh and the watch I purchased was advertised as "Latest Noob Factory version". Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated and [censored]. -
Well... after waiting in anticipation for my "latest version/V5 etc." DSSD, it arrived this morning. After unpacking, I notice that the luminous pip dot is missing. I look thoroughly through all of the packaging and it is nowhere to be found. I figure, "OK... I can get a replacement from one of the gents on the forum and re-attach". So then upon further inspection, I decide to check out the lume. Well... guess what?... the hands are blue and the markers... GREEN! WTF!!!! This is supposed to be the latest and greatest version! To add insult to injury, this was for my brother's B'day this Friday. Now, I'm screwed. I am not disclosing the dealer's name as I want to give them ample oppotunity to respond to me. OK... I need to calm down now and figure out another present for my bro.

Is this a Vipmariner? (bought it off the streets in Kuala Lumpur)
seadweller3 replied to simzger's topic in The Rolex Area
No worries Simon. Most of us, yours included, was in the same place a while back. Once you hang around here a while you will quickly become more educated. You will see a huge difference with the Noobmariner. Trust me. -

Replacement crystal for my 3717 - Anyone know where I can get one?
seadweller3 replied to seadweller3's topic in The IWC Area
Thanks my friend. -
I am looking to replace the crystal on my recently purchased modded 3717. It is scratched up and the AR job is all smudged. Unfortunately, both of these points were not mentioned to me by the seller. If any of you gents know a source for a crystal, please let me know. I have already tried PM'ing Chief and his Inbox is full so I can't get through. Thanks!

Newbie to Omega reps... Question for the Experts
seadweller3 replied to seadweller3's topic in The Omega Area
By-Tor's thread is very informative but I cannot find anywhere in it any mention of there being or not being an excellent, correct White dial Seamaster GMT. If you would be so kind as to PM me with who sells the great rep you refer to, I would really appreciate it. -
Is there such thing as an excellent white dial Seamaster GMT rep? Any specific dealer I should deal with? Thanks in advance!

Hello all... I am looking for an oversized IWC buckle to add to the strap I will be outfitting on my newly acquired 3717. Does anyone have a good source? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Lani. Do all dealers now sell the V3? Can you recommend one? Are any in the US? I appreciate the help.

I am looking for a reputable source for the BEST 3717 available. Thanks in advance to all that can offer an opinion/input.

Got my new GMTII Ceramic and you'll never believe it...
seadweller3 replied to seadweller3's topic in The Rolex Area
Only pet peeve so far is I am constantly wiping off the ceramic bezel. Seems like a haze on the bezel all the time. Is it possible there is residual coming from the bezel markings? Anyone else notice this? -

... but the GMT function is working (knocking on wood) perfectly! I set the time and the GMT followed along perfectly and then I locked down the crown and voila! It has been spot on for almost 24 hours now. Let's hope this continues. Also, a few other observations... 1. The lume is better than most other Rollies I have owned. 2. The dial and markers are robust. Is this what they refer to a "maxi" dial? 3. The bracelet is very good and quite solid. NO squeaking whatsoever! 4. Crown guards are well done, IMO. A question... is this a 1:1 with mods possible? Thanks gents, and Happy Holiday to all! -
Can anyone point me to instructions on how to properly oil a new Rollie bracelet? I believe there is something somewhere but I can't find it. Thanks!

Calling the Experts - GMT II Ceramic questions
seadweller3 replied to seadweller3's topic in The Rolex Area
Very helpful. Thanks Demon! -
He Gents, After a little "time off", I've once again been bitten by the bug and am looking for another Rollie. This time, I have decided on a GMT II Ceramic. I know there has been so much about these... Version 1, Version 2, real ceramic, faux ceramic, incorrect hand stack, correct hand stack (major problems?), swiss ETA, asian ETA copy etc. I'm very confused! I'd like to find the best watch that offers the following in this order: 1. GMT function WORKS as it should 2. Bezel is as "correct" as possible. 3. Timekeeping is very good. Can you chaps offer me some suggestions and insight. Also, what questions should I ask a seller about his watch to insure I am getting a decent one? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Asian 2843 movement question for the experts...
seadweller3 replied to seadweller3's topic in The Rolex Area
anyone??? -
Just picked up a DJ with a 2843 movement. I'd like to know if it would be possible to mod in a longer seconds hand to match the gen watch? The seconds hand that comes standard on the watch is too short. Has anyone ever done anything like this or know if it's possible? Thanks gents.
