I second that. My vintage gen 1680 insert clearly has the acrylic pearl and looks much different from that one.

I understand that the "common folk" would have no idea. But any Rolex fan, even a moderate one, would take a look at that crown logo and spot the "roundness" of the opening and would scream fake. It is the absolute tell-tale sign. Needs to be a flatter oval and not round.

That dial is WAY off. Fonts, font size, crown, date wheel, positioning of markings/writing, etc. Disappointing in my opinion.

I am considering a gen dial for my MBW 1680 and wondered how you "trim" the dial down the 0.5mm to make the fit? I believe most take it off of the right side of the dial near the 3 marker? Any imput would be very much appreciated!

Here are a few more scans. I am interested in hearing opinions. I think the crown is better than the MBW as is the red color of the Submariner type. But the Submariner not lining up correctly with the type below it is throwing me off a bit.

Cool! I have a vintage gen insert in mine and it absolutely makes the watch. Sending it off to the spa for a relume of dial/hands, crown guard work and gen bracelet with 580's installed. I will post scans after. The only thing missing will then be a gen movement which I am not in a hurry to do, quite honestly.

Rep, But what about the Submariner not lining up correctly? Shouldn't the S line up with the first 6 and the R with the m? Were there variations?

Oooooooooh. I did just notice though, is the SUBMARINER not lined up correctly over the 660ft = 200m?

Disagreed. Perhpas it is hard to tell from the pic I posted but the crown is much better on this one than on the MBW and the red is much brighter on this one than the deeper red on the MBW. I believe the red color is a dead give-away on the MBW.

Interested in hearing what you gents think about this 1680 dial/hands? I think it looks pretty good myself.

I have the opp to buy a gen 78360 with a 93150 buckle and 580 end links. It is in 80% condition and needs a GOOD polishing so I need to take the expense of that into account. What would be the "going rate" for this example? Thanks in advance! I appreciate the input.

Thanks for the reply and good information. We are in the same boat, I am just a step behind you. I am having The Zigmeister do his spa work to the dial and hands on mine as well as having the CG's milled. The only thing I'll need after that is the bracelet. Not worrying about the movement... at least for now.

I am looking for input as to which bracelet ids the most accurate to the 1680. Also wondering, what rep or aftermarket versions are best if a gen cannot be sourced? Thanks in advance.

Is the 93150 the best rep bracelet or is there another? MBW bracelet or different?
