  1. As I said, it's what you are willing to pay for and how long you want hunting for parts.

I once bought an almost new hornback with deployment for only $ 750,-

If I need one right now, I also have to go to the AD and pay th full price for it.

The modern dials go for more than $ 1000,- on the bay.

I know someone who paid more than $ 1500,- for a dial, tachyring and handset.

I once scored an old style dial for only $ 75,-

The LWO movements are usually old and poorly serviced. If you are spending big bugs on a franken, you might as well have the movement serviced.

These DD modules are pretty complex and I charge $ 350,- for it.

  2. I too have the same bug...have few parts in...but have not found anyone yet that can do the amazing work that some of the folks on the forum do and unfortunately they are not yet taking on new projects. But according to some the cost with parts and all mods can be as high as 2-3K (I have not verified this).

    Sorry mate, you are wrong...

The price depends on what you are willing to pay for it and how long you want to look for parts.

I have built a black themes which came with a brand new hornback, deployment and conversion links. All bought at an AD

    Price for this strap set allone was € 1500,- ( $ 2100,)

With gen hands, gen dial, gen tachyring, gen crown, gen crown tube, gen pushers and a completely serviced LWO movement, the price was between 5 and 6K.

Yep, serious money but my customer wanted it fast and paid the full price.

Although it cost a lot, it's still 1/2 the price of a used gen one and about 1/3 of the price of a new gen one.

It looks, feels and functions like the gen and also the durabillity is the same as the gen.

  3. Very nice... Congrats to the wife :) Its the 119 not 120 :)

Thats the second one I have seen now recently... except the other has a gen auto crystal and soon to have the gen hands

    Nice work :thumbsupsmileyanim:

You are right, it's the 119

Originally I wanted to put a bracelet on (120) but didn't like the way it looked. So I ordered a strap and deployment for it. Much better!

Who has the other one? You?

  4. Today I finished a franken pam 120.

    The work I did:

    Old model 40mm case.

    Reworked CG

    Single sided Chiefs AR

    Chiefs Cyclops

    Lello date wheel

    Cannon pin mod, see: http://www.rwgforum....__1#entry875518

    Serviced A7750 movement

    Hands relumed with SL C3

    Gen dial

    Gen stap

    Gen deployment

The dial is really beautiful. It changes color from gray/blue to dark blue. Very nice in real life.

Unfortunately the hands are wrong and it's a short strap so it won't fit me.

Anyone with better hands?.....please PM me!

  5. Thanks for your nice compliments. Agreed on the gen strap. Does a gen strap fit on the links of seconds at 12 case?

Sometimes it's an easy fit and sometimes the strap needs a little modding.

For instance my own brand new navy hornback fitted without any moddification while a brand new gen black hornback from a customer needed some modding.

I have the same experiance with the regular croc and calf straps. I guess 60% need modding and 40% not

  6. I have a probus scafusia crown in the making :)

Soon no more "wrong" rep crowns :whistling:

The fish crown is not "wrong" because the first models came with it.

The models produced after (I think) 2006 came with the probus crown.

It's good to have the Probus crown though because the reps don't have it.

  7. Hey, I replied to your thread on Repgeek. But in short - the "Concepta" case is a standard cartel (rep) case. The major difference is the caseback is not brushed and the inside needs to be machined out slightly to accept a gen movement. The Crowns are also a little shorter than the gen, they don't sit out as far and the real crowns. The Crystal also really needs a good double AR coating. None of these things are big problems though and all can be fixed. I've compared the case to a gen and they are very, very close.

You can not source a gen case, caseback, pushers or crystal I believe. I've tried and failed for my project.

Not sure about water mate, I wouldn't risk it personally.

The gen crown is identical to the rep crown. I installed one this weekend

Becasue I also got a gen tube with it, I measured the crowns but since there was no difference I kept the rep tube on it.

One of the biggest tells is the back. The brushed part it thicker than the polished part. So even when you brush it, you still be able to tell.

  8. I once bought a serviced watch here and when I took it apart, it was way worse than what it was before the "service"

Reason: way way way too much oil. Since the A7750 from the factory are always dry, this would have been better than the "serviced" one.

When a watch is properly serviced, there should not be a "bed-in time" necessary. It's not a car, it's a watch!

It's running properly or it's not.

    Some options of the problems:

    poor service (most likely!)

something has happend during the shipment (box dropped????)

the spring of the balance wheel sticks together which results in a shorter spring.

  9. You'll notice that I have replaced the AP Rep Deployant with a much more comfortable aftermarket version:

    DSC01246.jpg

Nice new dial but a terrible deployant :black_eye:

    2 options:

1: swap the buckle (only the part that holds the strap) for the one of the AP deployant. If I look at it, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't fit.

2: use the AP deployant and swap the strap. so the long side on top at 12 and the short side at 6.

This makes a HUGE difference. I wasn't able to wear them untill I heard about the swap.

The gen deployant and strap have the same problem and these are also swapped a lot.

Regarding the service, yes you will not hear the movement anymore.

  10. Now that another innocent buyer has been saved let us turn to the more interesting question.

Sander, please tell us you were not hunting for a gen with a diamond bezel. :whistling:

I'm a man...... Diamonds are a GIRLS best friend!

No, actually I'm getting paid by AP to hunt down these [censored] 8)

  11. I have a 16610 laying arround for quite some time now and the only thing it's missing is the cyclops.

The crystal which is now installed is 30.5 mm and is slightly larger than the original. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a replacement crystal for it either.

So the quesion is, where can I find a 2.5 Cyclops or a 30.5mm crystal with cyclops.

Thanks for letting me know :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Cheers,

    Sander

  12. Thanks guys,

It's always great to see the finished product and a happy owner.

Unfortunately I just do not have the time anymore to do these time consuming projects.

It's not only the build but also the communication with the customers that takes a lot of time.

I can't tell where he got the parts from because I will be shot if I did.

I also can't tell you what the price of this watch is. The reason is that the gen parts are very rare so they can ask what ever they want.

If you have your hands replaced at AP during a service, they will charge you € 150,- for it.

I have seen used hands sold for more than € 700,- and used dials are sold for more than € 900,-

I guess the total price is somewhere between € 3500 and € 4000,-

    2 more shots.
