  1. hehe i think letting us europeans in on this vote will be a sure thing for Obama, as his views are a lot more in the lines of the vestern european politics.

It's funny you mentioned that, there was a survey done...isn't there always when it comes to US elections :) Romney has the vote sewn up in Pakistan though, they love him over there :D

  2. I've only hear of one person doing this mod :) over on RWI. So yes afaik it will fit, but really why bother, the 42mm caseback is very very close to gen, looking at one vs the other you have to really try hard to see the differences, sure the gen has slightly more detailing, but to do the mod is a crazy waste of money...imo :D

  3. I think the 16610 is the very last of the great Rolex subs, classic in fit and function. The ceramics are horrific disjointed looking pieces of bling. Is is a bit of a shame that the 16610 became the 'one good watch' of choice for anyone with a good salary. You kind of get the feeling that you just can't approach someone with a 16610 and talk watches, say "nice sub" and 90% of the time you'll get a wtf "it's not a sub, it's a rolex" type answer. :D Still great watches though!

  4. Yep agreed on the sales slogans, they love it, still some good stuff out these days but it would be nice if they didn't keep shoving out pams and hublots and give us some other choices. I have a closed factory smp too, that was a great price you got it at :)... great cases, in some ways we've gone backwards with omega reps compared to a few years ago, yep we have the PO and ploprof, but then we had good smps, speedydates, old AT's and railmasters etc.

Enjoy the movie, I hear it's pretty damn good! :)

  5. :) Yep totally agree, but you know how it is with their new sales slogans, '1:1, complete teardown, 10 years in the making, all parts interchangeable with...' :D

As long as they get the case and dial right I couldn't care less what movement is in it either, they can sell it movement-less and I'd still buy it if good enough in the front. ;) I'll keep plugging at Angus, he definitley mentioned that noob have looked at the probability of it and it looks good, the case/dial etc look not too difficult, and even though they seem to have a policy of trying to avoid displayback watches in many cases these days, some they just can't ignore, we will know more after the ceramic PO has been released hopefully.

  6. Definitely keep us updated on the source for dials. They are getting harder to find and when watchco sells out then they will become even more difficult again, if not impossible. Definitely gonna pick up silver and gemini soon enough for future builds. You also have the brown dial speedy which is really sweet, the brown dial doesn't get much attention but imo it is nicer and more subtle than some of the LE speedies.

Anyway enjoy the gemini, it's a cracker! :)

  7. :D

The strange thing about this is that Angus has mentioned that noob are in production and we may be looking at just before CNY or shortly after for these. And frankly little other info. Then again we previously had an eta of last summer, then xmas, now cny+. Andrew has suddenly now popped up and announced this, even though he not once mentioned anything about them previously. Perhaps another factory involved production or just another rep business mind game. I think I'll stick to the old reliable "I'll believe it when we see it" where rumours about reps are concerned.

  8. Yeah agreed they missed a trick slightly with the heights/thickness of these 8500 PO's, people say it's necessary adjustement to fit the movement but that is not entirely true, the movement is chunkier than the 2500 but alot of the added thickness comes from the bezel height. No doubt they are great sellers already and they will be great sellers going forward but lots of people prefer the 2500 PO size/height. This could've been a true direct competitor to the Rolex sub, instead Omega turned it into SD/DSSD competitor.

Not sure if we'll ever get a proper AT r11co, been bugging Angus about noob doing one, it's difficult to get info on the 8500 PO rep let alone an AT, I keep telling him they can't ignore it as it is the bond watch and will be a solid no nonsense seller, and when they've finished trying to get an sw200/a2824 to look like an 8500 for the PO, they can stick that one in an AT and double up the profits :)

  9. Very nice. Great choices. I agree the panda is a bit more dressy - ish looking to me, still a nice mod but the gemini/ba hands just changes the whole look of the watch so substantially it seems to be the better everyday kinda choice. I'm gonna do something similar very soon, I'm still trying to decide whether to do the gemini/ba or the silver dial mod, very hard to decide which, there is also a few white military dial mods that look very tempting.

    Here's a cool silver dial/black hands custom:

And a really cool custom military dial alaska project-ish style job:

...trouble is I want the whole lot of them ;)

  10. Yep if they can provide the oem warranty then all good, watchharbour seem ok, but at the end of the day they are all just middlemen and are probably phoning around AD's after you ring looking for your watch when you can do it yourself, with possibly a slightly better discount. They wouldn't have as long term reputation as the likes of watchfinder but it wouldn't put me off them. It might be worth pulling up a phone book and checking out the number of every beaverbrooks/goldsmiths/Ernest Jones etc in your area and see what you come up with, you'd never know :)

  11. You going for new ry? Why not try ringing up a few AD's and see what discounts you can pick up? With the Ceramic all the rage they do seem to be offering discounts on older models, it might take a few places to get stock, but worth the try.

Alternatively there is grey market, watchharbour, watchfinder, swisswatchesdirect, iconicwatches etc, see if they can source you one. Watchharbour have been mentioned a few times on other forums, they seem to have a good rep. I've never personally used them but have with the others, all are safe enough. The other option is to keep an eye on SC on tz-uk and see what comes up, they appear every couple of weeks or thereabouts.
