  1. Very difficult to get a pearl dead centre, some are better than others, if there is a bit of 'give' with the bezel insert you might be able to centre it slightly by moving the the insert, may have to heat it a little to do it though.

The whole 'is it swiss' is an ongoing debate tbh, very hard to know, it could be but could be old stock etc even checking the stampings/shocks it is hard to know. If you do open the case you will get a bettter idea, but to know for sure and how good condition its in you'd need to take it apart :)

Best to just enjoy the watch ;)

  2. I had photos of an omega robbed before, from photobucket, silly me not making the folder private, they were used for a new listing. lazy bastards on ebay :) it's constantly happening on ebay these days. In fairness in this case he just referred to a website with example pics of the same watch he listed, not exactly the right thing to do and it's unfortunate it linked to a rep site, but nobody probably noticed. At least he didn't directly reuse the photos on the listing and claim it was his own watch.

  3. There are no tells from the pictures. It looks gen but the price is too high for a 90% (which with all those AR scratches it's more like 80%) without box and papers.

I agree, better deals available if really looking for one, not only because it is without box and papers, but with a bit of searching it's not difficult to find one in better condition than that, AR looks very scratched and the case itself isn't in great condition as txt pointed out.

Tbh, to tell a franken from a gen, forget every 'normal' tell and examine the serial and the caseback externally. The serial is the immediate concrete tell but also nobody really buys a gen caseback (at least very rarely)

....of course having the caseback opened is a nice option but not always possible via a sale.

  4. Jesus H Christ not another fcker taking advantage of goddam PP, sorry to hear about this!

That name actually rings a bell for me, but I can't quite place it... :g: :g:

Yes it does for me also, I think he is over on RWI aswell, an all points bulletin should go out now!

  5. For me the original gen price does not matter, and I think it would really only matter to people who are worried about being called out. Although I do realise that in some jobs some rep owners may not want raise eyebrows of colleagues/boss so like to keep it 'low key'. This is perfectly understandable. There are a few other things to mention. These days I do not really feel comfortable wearing any watch above a certain price, say max $2Kish used price. Which means a franken/modded watch at about 1/3 of that amount if possible.

There are so many reasons for this, one is the extravagance of going above that ceiling when other things are more important, minding the bloody thing etc, it just doesn't fit the comfort level for some reason so I would tend to be only really interested in watches below this amount, which means if a good rep/franken is available then it is fair game. It strange when you have a mental ceiling of max gen prices you are comfortable with, you tend to naturally gravitate to the reps of these choices available close to this level. That's not to say a decent PP or lange rep is out of bounds, it certainly isn't but there are very few good ones available anyway.

  6. Get one of the sinn u2 or u1 reps, great looking watch and comfortable.

Honestly though, just imo but when exercising, a watch is the last thing I really want on, they become a pita fairly quickly....unless it serves some purpose related to the task at hand, a polar hrm or something like that is perfect in that regard or if outdoor/adventure then you could also consider a tissot t-touch or timex ironman for a bit extra durability.

  7. Any update on this? Hugo has always been a great communicator and goes above and beyond to help out, would be very surprised if something untoward occurred, but something must have happened to stop him responding as he was on rg just before the downtime, hope he is ok, if anyone hears anything let us know. I'd like to think he will be back in action again. I was hoping to order some parts from him over the summer.

  8. Still the same, has been the same on the speedy front for years...unlikely to change now unfortunately unless we get that modded a7750 with close subdial option...can't see it happening. If anything things are actually worse, last year it was no problem getting a quartz moony, lately they've changed the subdials and alot of bad batches are doing the rounds. The good ones are still available in places though. The quartz is still probably the best option. The only real concrete alternative option is doing a proper franken like azgjav has done a few times in recent threads.

  9. Not from Germany here (plenty of Germans here so not sure why they didn't respond (too busy watching the Euros maybe ;)) I'm pretty familiar with German customs though but not in the past year.

I don't think you will have an issue with andrew, just keep the amount of purchases low and marked appropriately and they should get through, you also have the option of circle type shipping.
