  1. I usually sleep with a watch on, I don't tend to flail about when asleep. However, I no longer shower with my watches on - the last time I had one of my watch batteries changed, the watchmaker asked me if I showered with my watch on. I said yes, and he told me that the hot shower water had dried out the gasket seals to the caseback almost completely. Also nowadays I tend to wear leather straps so they would get damaged by showering with them. I like deployments for this reason.
  2. Nice. I didn't realise the mesh band was in links / segments.
  3. You're long, long, long overdue! TTK, maybe put a bit of text on the first line of the OP - THIS BUY IS CLOSED!
  4. Because if a high-quality, reliable Asian movement became available that was, say, half the price of the equivalent ETA, mid-level watchmakers might decide that it's not worth ponying up for higher ETA prices... admittedly the "Swiss Made" or Swiss movement label still carries a premium.
  5. If the Asian movement factories could tighten up their QC and improve the quality of their finishing, lubrication etc, they could potentially be a huge threat to ETA. Imagine a new A7750 movement finished to ETA-level quality.
  6. Just carry yourself like you're worth the watch you're wearing. It does help if you're not wearing a watch which is obviously out of your league (a rep of $30,000 watch when you can't afford to buy beer).
  7. I spotted a (reasonably well-used) gen buckle on eBay and snapped it up immediately. Put it on my leather (rep) strap tonight, and it's AMAZING what a difference it makes. The engraving is so much better than the stamped logo on the rep buckle, and suddenly the whole watch looks more "genuine". Recommended upgrade if you have the opportunity. Now if only the gen deployment clasps were as inexpensive...
  8. I wonder if they are working on the new straps too (rubber and mesh), since those are what you would expect to find the Heritage on.
  9. Not bad at all for a first gen rep. Datefont isn't exact, but reasonably close. Engraved back font looks very slightly different. Can't tell from the last picture - is that black dial with black bezel? Maybe the AR makes the bezel look blue in that one shot.
  10. TTK, I didn't hear back from you so I've just sent GBP46 to your account.
  11. Send them to k2222, he will get his watchmaker to take the crystal out for you.
  12. Exactly! Where can you get one for $200? This is a stunning watch.
  13. All you UK guys - how much did you pay in GBP including forwarding fees? I'm trying to find out if GBP46 is enough - when confirmed I will pay TTK immediately.
  14. 3-6-9 refers to the layout of the subdials (three subdials at 3-o'clock, 6-o'clock and 9-o'clock positions respectively; this layout is also known as the Tri-compax layout). As for price, you'll have to check those out for yourself - start at the dealers section here. Also remember you are not just shopping for the cheapest dollar price, but the best service and reliability - it's worth spending a bit of time to read dealer reviews, and then email them to see whether you want them to get your business.
  15. TTK you have one final PM to confirm final amount in GBP including forwarding. I can't get to a bank but am estimating based on Visa's currency converter, but the conversion includes amounts in baht, USD and GBP so I wanted to make I got it right before paying. Let me know and I will transfer ASAP.
  16. Just to let you guys know I'm still waiting to hear from TTK, so I'm not intentionally holding the group buy up.
  17. It is a nice watch. Agree the gen is not that expensive... on the other hand if it is a good rep, then you could use the leftover money to get a few more reps.
  18. Comments about politicians screwing us, etc.
  19. No worries - was just responding to your post with the list of people who hadn't been in touch. Didn't want the rest of the group to think I was holding them up.
  20. TTK - I have replied several times to your PMs! I have given you my name, address, and requested bank details so I can pay in. I keep checking my email waiting for notification of a reply to PM. If PM is not working can I email you instead? Or could you PM me your bank details so I can do a transfer? I am musicale here on RWG as well as on RepCollector and RepGeek.
  21. My recommendation - hire a violin, and take a few lessons from a good teacher. Violin isn't like piano or guitar - unless you are EXTRAORDINARILY gifted, you WILL need a teacher to be good enough to be bearable to listen to!
  22. Hope this is ok with TTK, but I realise there are others who may want that Rollie more than me - I'm willing to give my spot to someone else if they are planning to get rid of a rep that I want more (Tag, Omega, Breitling). If not, no worries - it would be cool to have at least one Rolex in my collection.
  23. Again since you will accept payment into your UK account and route through UK, I'm in - not really a Rolex guy but this is an amazing deal. I don't know anything about Rolexes, but will probably go for a Yachtmaster since that looks the nicest of the ones you have pictured. I thought I'd help you out with the list since that's what you requested in your post but no one seems to have done it so far.
