  1. Great thread. What is the correct method for drilling lug holes from the inside, on watches which aren't drilled right through?
  2. Interesting, I like it. Being based on a vintage Heuer style I bet it's a more traditional size too. Try checking on Watchuseek or something.
  3. Curious about this watch as well, as there are actually some on eBay!
  4. I believe the holes in the hands for the Asian can be gently enlarged to fit the Swiss movement, obviously reversing this is more tricky.
  5. A sticky in the Auction forum would be a good idea... also explaining what that forum is for, as I for one didn't know about POTR's circumstances and spent some time searching before I figured it out.
  6. The MB is a beautiful rep, the only thing is the sunken datewheel and lack of AR, otherwise exceptionally accurate and beautiful. I have one and am torn between getting the AR done and selling it.
  7. I should now add that I have been in touch with TTK over at Repgeeks and he has explained the situation, that in fact the routing was unnecessary and that the credit is waiting for me for another order and has been all along. He did in fact try to explain this to me through PM before I ordered but I must have misunderstood his explanation. I'm satisfied with the outcome.
  8. Ordering from another dealer sending direct is fine, except I don't want my name and address associated with importing these goods. I buy lots of stuff from overseas and don't want Customs to have my address on a blacklist delaying all my imports. That's why I paid the extra money for it to be routed through another address, and why I'm a bit annoyed that it wasn't done. Sure, it came through OK in the end but that was down to luck on TTK's end. If I wanted to gamble on that luck, I would have saved on the re-routing costs (which was about a third of the watch's price). I know the other dealers would resend a seized watch, but it was about more than just the inconvenience during this order. So if you went into the restaurant and ordered some food, and wanted it to come a certain way and paid 33% extra for that, then it arrived three hours later, and not the way you ordered it, I suppose it would be your fault and not the restaurant's fault. With all due respect, TTK's communication hasn't been great so far. I just can't be bothered to go through the whole hassle again. I'd rather just post the information her, not as slander, but as actual information to benefit everyone. I don't think I have been unreasonably negative about the whole thing.
  9. Take the opportunity to buy a uke in Hawaii then! I had to import one from there. Music Guy Mike rocks. Between the concert and tenor, I prefer the tenor by far... much easier for my fingers to deal with, the concert is a bit too small for me.
  10. Gordon Ramsay probably has more watches than I have socks.
  11. You can set the date by pulling the crown out one position. Pulling it out further will set the time. The time to avoid is between 10pm and 2am as that is the period when the date changes over, and you could damage the date-change mechanism. To be safe, set the watch to 6 o'clock before setting the date.
  12. It's a great arrangement - thanks to Jake, I went out and bought a ukulele, and I actually spent a day learning the entire thing note for note. It's very well done and Jake is phenomenal.
  13. I received my Yachtmaster over the weekend at long last. I must say that the extra money I paid for "UK routing" proved to be a waste, as the package arrived straight from Thailand. I've lost my appetite for this watch. I've posted in the For Trade section.
  14. I think it's cool, and probably worth the money to someone else, just not to me.
  15. Unique watch designs - some of them are hideous. Who comes up with this stuff?
  16. Looks like a GMT timezone arrangement, but I can't see a GMT hand or any kind of 24 hour indication. Very weird.
  17. Something just doesn't sit right with me about this rep - maybe it's just me, but the datefont, logo, bezel etc look really wrong. If I was buying a rep for my lady I'd be looking at the Tag Link Ladies... in fact I might pick one up. I'd want my girl to be under zero risk of anyone finding her watch suspect.
  18. The Tag F1 quartz is IMO a hideous watch.
  19. My problem is that I have big upper arms and a big ass. Even getting shirts that I can button up and fit me well is tricky.
  20. This is really interesting. I've only owned one made-to-measure suit, and I lost 20lbs within a year and it now looks completely wrong on me and I never wear it. Since then I buy off-the-rack, my most recent suit was GBP30 (100% wool, decent, nothing special) from Moss Bros and only needed some minor alteration to the trousers to fit. I'd love to own a completely bespoke suit but I simply can't afford to spend that kind of money only to have it not fit right within a year. I'd rather be able to buy a new suit every year that fits perfectly even it it's not quite as nice.
  21. Be grateful. Without your parents having sex, you wouldn't have been born.
