Hi guys, Would you be able to tell me if the 5001 dial attached is genuine. The wording looks correct to me. Numbers looked aligned too. What do you guys think? Cheers, AP

Hello guys, Been a while since I've come on here! Was wondering if anyone could tell me if this IWC clasp (I have attached images) is genuine. Some have an oval logo in between Swiss made and acier inox writing and some don't, is this just based on the year it was made? Anyway if this looks legit to you or rep, let me know your thoughts. cheers, AP

New member from Paris + questions about 79350
Laurent75 posted a topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
Hello to all members Thank you for this forum My name is Laurent, I am 33 and live in Paris. I work in the business consulting area but I am a mechanical engineer and I am very attracted by mechanical watches as a hobby/collection. I own several watches (Speedmaster, BR03-92, Classima Ltd Edition, etc.) So far I also try to make my own mods and projects usings parts and movements from here and there, mostly sourcing on the bay. I have purchased case, dial, bezel and glass of a Portuguese on the bay. I need the 79350 and buy some hands to complete. Allthought I have read many posts on this forum, the detail level of your conversations and the numerous threads available make me confused. I would really appreciate if someone could answer some of the questions below questions if possible Thank you so much in advance Best regards to you all Laurent 1. what % of chance is the case/dial/bezel/glass to be a rep ? how to know ? (quality seems great/flawless) 2. is there any way to purchase a gen 79350 somewhere today on the internet ? (i saw one on ebay.fr once ... how is it with.com and other domain names ?) 3. how far is this difficult to adapt a 7750 i.e. move the second @9hr to 6hr ? any modules available somewhere ? 4. what are your favorite purchasing websites for parts & movements ? especially for Portuguese projects ?- 9 replies

Hi Guys, I don't have any IWC reps right now, actually lately I've been wearing my gen Oris artelier big date. I've came across a rep IWC Portuguese 7 days PR rep that is about $105 including shipping, it has the seagull movement (not sure if the one with the skeletonzied rotor or not - anyway the movement is not per gen). What do you think about the looks ? is it worth buying ? as much as i'm aware, the "standard" reps such as this, are usually all from the same factory with the same pros and cons no matter who is the dealer (correct me if i'm wrong) I've attached two photos of the rep. I've love to see your opinions. Thanks in advance Db1

I was derping around the TD's to find out what is new, when suddenly..... IWC Portuguese Chrono V3 (3714-47) ! I missed the V2 though... To be honest, i saw a grey dial 3714 that tried to act like a V2 but was terrible. And now we have a V3: http://timeshops.net/product.php?id_product=13863 The only updates I see is the new crown, whilst completely off (Probus Scafusia logo on the crown is really bad), brushed caseback (looks ok to me), and the new tachy ring, looks that shape seems to be ok, but white markers should have been longer and "touch" the dial. And when you look at the specs, i still do not understand what do they mean by "English flag". And gentleman, behold! It houses CAREFULLY SELECTED 7750 MOVEMENT. QUALITY HAS IMPROVED THAN BEFORE. I have always been in love with 3714, but it looks like the sec@6 problem can be solved only by the three jewel mod currently offered by domi, but mike stated somewhere that he is working on his own solution as well, or by swaping rep movement for gen. Overall nice rep, but V3 really? Gen dial with the new style 4 and cut off 6 is simply beatiful. And sourcing gen parts for franken is nowadays almost impossible and when you are lucky, movement 600-750 EUR, gen dial 150 EUR (old style, used)-350 EUR (new style, impossible to find), crown 100-150 EUR and you have to shorten chrono pushers, duble AR the crystal (stock single looks just too cheap) and the last gen tachy ring for sale has been seen like 3 years ago. And if you are lucky, you are somewhere at 1500 EUR with stock rep strap (gen strap add 180-350 EUR). I love the 3714's style, and would buy it as a gen if i had funds, but as a rep or franken project, it ain't deal maker for me. At the franken price I will rather add 700 EUR and buy new Omega Aqua Terra Golf edition with Co-Axial movement and transparent caseback...(saw used for 2200 EUR and missed the sale.... AD's are selling these here in Slovakia for 3500-4050 EUR)

Hi Guys, I was wondering if there would be any demand in getting a set of casebacks custom made for the 3714 portuguese chronograph model, and engrave them with individual serial numbers as what Jakob has done for Panerai models The 3714, I have noted, is immensely popular and is available as a pretty good rep, that is with most of its flaws fixed by getting genuine parts - such as the movement, dial & handset, crown, tachy bezel. While there are options to AR the crystal, and fix the caseback with a brushed look, there seems to be no method in sourcing genuine cases or casebacks (even through concepta or hacra). However, the case, I have noticed, is very accurate and only needs to be modded if transplanting a genuine movement. The caseback however, is quite a different story, and remains etched with the same dead giveaway serial number which is an IMMEDIATE tell. The best I can think of is to order a set of custom-made casebacks and get them engraved with individual serial numbers, and I am wondering what the demand will be like should I start with such a project. Any thoughts? Cheers!

IWC Portuguese 7 days Ref. 5001- cannot find a decent one
Paneriwc321 posted a topic in The IWC Area
Hi, Im new here- so Im not sure what I can hope to find or simply forget about. I am looking for a rep 5001, which is the "simpler" version of the Portuguese chrono, in terms of dial complications. I have found a few reps on Puretime and Timesshops, but the particular model does not have a neat finish on the subdials- what i mean is that many reps have "rills" on their subdials, whilst the gens are smooth. So essentially what I am asking for is whether anyone knows a dealer, other than those mentioned above (which in no case is a criticism!), who might have good reps of the 5001? Thanks!- 6 replies

Hi ! I haven't been here for years ! so glad to see rwg is still kicking , too bad I did not remember my username and password so I've had to create a new account ! Well i'm back ! Still own my Breitling for bentley A7750 and Rolex sub ETA. Recently I was looking at the Portuguese Chronograph , the black dail with white sub-dials model. I really fall in love with the layout of the watch. I wanted to get an a7750 automatic one, but the 6 oclock problem is something I didn't want to tackle with. So I wanna get a quartz version. What do you think about this purchase? How's the quartz version? does anyone own it ? Thanks!

Hi all, Fell in love with the IWC Portuguese and wanted to buy a genuine Portuguese until I knew that the movement was based on ETA. Didn't like the thought paying 7k for a watch that didn't have an in-house movement. I know that ETA movements are good and that IWC modifies them heavily but it feels to me like if someone tunes a Renault Clio with some spoilers, better exhaust etc. So I did some more research and bought a genuine Submariner as it was a beautiful/robust watch (not a jewel like the IWC). The Sub offered the best price/quality but I keep looking back to the gorgeous IWC Portuguese and thought of buying a rep... It's probably going to be a black 3714 but its so hard to find a good-looking rep. Would love this version without the stripes/engravings in the chrono's; But the "new" official version has some small (ugly) engravings in the small chrono dials and the rep's too. Also, the small dots/numbers look much more shiny then the rep's I come across.
