peppee78 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Bought a SMP replica from Silix half a year ago. It's great and I'v been wearing it alot. The problem is that the dials have gone gray, probably from much sun exposure! The lumen on the minute/hour pointers are still white though. It's pretty anoying as it is very obvious when looking at it... Anyone else hade the same issue? Anyone fixed it with new lume paint? / Peter
ubiquitous Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Actually, that sounds like a cool effect. Any pics? You must spend a lot of time out in the sun for that to happen?
coolfire Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 that's weird... the dial on my silix SMP since early-2005 still looks the same blue...and I am in the construction line, always in the sun... but like what ubi has mentioned, it may actually look cool on yours now...pics please!
peppee78 Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Yo, I didn't mean the blue background of the dials but the small cream white spots that indicate the numbers 1 - 12... Anyway see appended picture. It's not very good but I didn't have tools to remove the glass. If you compare the hour and minute pointers which are white you clearly see that the dial spots have a gray/greenish color. Originally those were the the same color as the pointers. Actually the same thing happend to my friends SMP earlier this spring after he went to sunny Dubai for a week... / Peter
ubiquitous Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Interesting. Looks like putty on those marker plots. You can always have it relumed... Or maybe replace the dial...

Wayward Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Is the watch ETA based? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for a gen dial upgrade!
801run Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Have u been practising Turkish Hamam bath lately? Supposedly such activities can cause the lume on the dial to go grey.
peppee78 Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 Is the watch ETA based? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for a gen dial upgrade! It is ETA-based! Anyone knows where to get a new dial?
