madasboot Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Just some pics to share. This is your buckle Philippe (picked it up an hour ago from Mr. Virgilio). Hope you like it. Cheers, M. PS -can anyone explain me how to attach an image to a PM (uploading from a hard drive)?
flyback Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Hi M, Thanks very much for the engraving. One step more to reach the vintage pam perfection! You're the man!
supermanx Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Wow this is excellent. I havent gotten into the pams to much nor vintage (thats one reason for selling my 217 and maybe even my 2893-2 063), but vintage and pam is looking better and better everyday.
madasboot Posted August 24, 2006 Author Report Posted August 24, 2006 Thanks for all your support. Mr Virgilio will be happy to know his work is appreciated! Glad you like it Phil. Cheerio, M.
leitztozeiss Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Marco. Nice work. I hope my local engraver can do the same.

archibald Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Awesome Work!!! A general question for your engraver: How do they go about copying a font? Do they need to know what the font is or can they "copy" a picture? I assume if they copy a picture they need to know the depth of the engraving, right? (Not going to copy your excellent idea--just thinking about some work I need to do on a Muller.) Thanks in advance...

You can present him a drawing (I made an AutoCad drawing of the buckle layout with the text on an approximate font) or you can show him a picture. Or both! Now this is the beautiful part: if some type (character, formatting, etc...) on the drawing is somewhat less accurate he will copy it from the picture. Cheers, M.

madasboot Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 Maybe I will have the possibility to start a small scale production of these babies (2.5mm thick 316L steel, non removable and with engraving included). I will be asking for some production prices for the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile I would like to know who would be interested on buying. Cheers, M.
