rwg777 Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I have two watches, one is Asian Automatic 21J, the other is Swiss ETA 2824-2 Automatic. When I hold them in my hand and move them side to side medium fast, then stop, I can hear the pendulum (I think thats what you call it) inside spin freely by itself quite fast. Then slows and stops. They are both not fully wound, barely 1 day of wearing in a few days. Is this normal? What's going on?
KB Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 They're both junk send them to me. Ken Ok sorry, yes it's normal Ken
rwg777 Posted August 25, 2006 Author Report Posted August 25, 2006 They're both junk send them to me. Ken Ok sorry, yes it's normal Ken Gee... I almost dropped my jaw there for a sec. Why does it spin like that?
swdivad Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 That's the rotor that winds the mainspring... All automatic watches have a rotor so they wind when you move. The ETA Valjoux 7750 is even louder... Beautiful sound, isn't it?

Pugwash Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Oh i see. It is spinning so fast, doesn't even sound like it was attached to anything. I thought something came loose big time . It'll sound like Ftststststststststststst ... grickckck. Not only will you get used to it, it'll become a soothing sound.
kingkitesurf Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Yep...mine didn't anymore at one time and then started clicking loud with the spinning...It was broke! So enjoy this smooth sound...Thats the bearing you hear swooshing.... Nice!
none Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Listen to this one: I own a Tag Heuer Link Chrono with the Asian 7750@28000bph. I noticed that I had to wind it each time again and again. So I removed the caseback and saw there was a little screw preventing the rotor from spinning! After I fixed this I noticed a strange feeling and noise when I moved the watch! For the first time I discovered the rotor! Hahaha.... But can anyone tell me why this 7750 makes so much noise and why my Rolex Sub with ETA automatic does NOT make any sound and works perfectly???
rwg777 Posted October 14, 2006 Author Report Posted October 14, 2006 Interesting story thanks for sharing. As for your question, someone else has to answer, me newbie Listen to this one: I own a Tag Heuer Link Chrono with the Asian 7750@28000bph. I noticed that I had to wind it each time again and again. Dutchy Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Ftststststststststststst ... grickckck Even though this was said over a month ago, thats hilarious, its really does sound like that, lol
none Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 I wonder if the rotor of the Asian 7750 can be modified so that the noise is unnoticeable...
r11co Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 purchase a swiss made eta 2892-A2 or eta 2893-2 and you will not heard any sound... GREAT MOVEMENTS Indeedy. The distunguishing mark visually of a 289x movement is the larger rotor bearing, and it ain't just there for looks
none Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 I just tried to record the sound but my microphone is not sensitive enough to register it.
Usil Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Is this the sound you hear? Rotor Sound (Small Wave file) Usil
