Romp
Hey guys - bit of a rollie newb but hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Ive read here that the WM9v2 is the best sub rep - but if i was after a rep with NATO strap - would it be accurate to get the WM9v2 and replace the bracelet or is there a diff rolex altogether that came with NATO gen? Not after any of the PVD .. want to stick with SS Thanks
elepaolo
No Rolex originally came with NATO. Even the 5513/5517 military was given to members of UK Navy or Army head only, and it had to be coupled with a NATO strap after. When you see the famous Bond photos, don't be swept away: ref. 6536, 6538, 5508 and 5510 all came, originally, with SS bracelet. Hope it helps. lanikai
The 5513 ..one of my favs on Nato (MBK 5513.. modded... gen. crystal,crown.. "faded" not the best insert.. acrylic pearl..) or the thicker Zulu strap but with our Hobby ... and on this board .. you can do whatever makes you feel the obsession best buy for G-10 Nato.. TeeJay
I love how the Snowflake Tudors look on NATO, but I'm actually going to make this my suggestion, the South African MilSub Impossible to buy an 'out the box' rep, but a seriously easy project built I'm going to undertake as soon as finances allow
redwatch
I don't have any shots of the 16610 on a NATO but here are a few different strap options on my 1680: Panatime Zulu Maratec G10 Grey Stripe Maratec G10 Black I also used to have a 1655 Steve McQueen Explorer II on a NATO. Haven't been able to source where this strap came from originally:

thogaa
May be a bit tight as SDs are 20mm Sure? I had a G10 on my faulty deepsea once - When I discovered it was an "Original Orlex" Maybe it was a strap from my gen 007 They are all in the same drawer
robertk
I like my 5512 on a Nato. Different but nice.
thogaa
I've seen a few reps of the vintage sub where the no date versions says "OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE" on the dial
cdk847
IMHO - I have always liked the look of Explorer I's - both vintage and new, on NATO's. I would get one myself, but NATO just doesn't fit my style....
