Did Eddie Lee 127 mineral crystals have exploding issues?

I just got a killer deal on an old school EL 127 but noticed it has a mineral. Did the EL crystals have issues exploding? Thanks

Mine did.. some did.. some didn't .. you can always source a DSN crystal though.. not a problem..

I always believed that the most problems with exploding were the 1950 44mm models, like the 253 and the 212. I had at least 5-7 exploded crystals with pam253 for myself and other people. terrible terrible... Only when they produce the 'old' sapphire crystals again, I will buy one of these. Once I had a fully The Zigmeisterfied 253 (relume, movement serviced, cg modd, Jakub AR), but I refuse to invest in these tricky watches now.

My EL 217 sapphire crystal exploded (after I had it Chief AR'd ) - replaced it with a DSN

I thought the sapphire crystals had more of a problem with exploding. I had my sapphire EL 127 for almost 3 years without a problem.

Rep crystals are a bit finicky. If they are not seated properly in the bezel, the likelihood of the crystal exploding is high as the crystal is generally not as well made as the gen versions.
