Martyd3 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Took about 15 minutes and a $1.50 bottle of flat black Testors model paint. Brush the paint on, wait 15 minutes or so and gently wipe off with a paper towel. There is a speck of paint that I missed, which is now gone It looks perfect at arms length. Gen Clasp
maugomez Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 great job... but i have the gmtIIc that the marks on the clasp aren

TeeJay Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I don't think I've seen this mod performed before, but it looks really good

freddy333 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Sorry to be the sole dissenter here (as usual), but I do not think the rep 'engraving' looks sufficiently accurate to warrant highlighting it. Until they at least get the engraving correct, I think the less is more (harder to see) approach of the original version is better.

The engraving of the gen is thicker in the filigree, and in a side by side, yes, noticeable difference. But. If the rep was being viewed in isolation, I think it looks fine, and certainly better than just the engraving. I see what you mean that without paint it is less noticeable, but I think in terms of modding to bring closer to gen, I think it's making the best of the situation

Yes, magnified 10 or 20 times and compared to the gen clasp side by side, you can see subtle differences. With no magnification and no gen to compare it too, I think it looks great.

I have both, the difference is easy to spot, even without wearing glasses. The engraving is rubbish. One of those easy things they could have done right..
