omgiv Posted February 8, 2010 Report Share Posted February 8, 2010 Does anyone know if there is a different set bridge for the ETA 2846 that will give it two stem setting instead of three? The 2846 has winding, date setting, and time setting. I am thinking about using it for a 5513 project and would like just two (winding and time). Is it a gen spec case? Or is it a rep case made for a 2836-2? Reason I ask, is if it is gen spec, you may have a stem alignment problem with the 2846. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the stem position different between a date and non date 1570? The date module is not installed, therefore making the stem closer to the dial side. 1570 with no date module: If you are using a gen spec case, and the stem position is different, you would probably want to transplant the 2846 works into a 2801 or 2824 mainplate. This way your stem will align with the case tube. center stem to dial seat is 2.25mm on the 2846, and center stem to dial seat is 1.80mm on the 2824 and 2801. Generally, movement swap/fit is as follows: -1520/1570 = 2836/2846/2783/4 swappable -3135 = 2824 swappable So, if he's going for an oldie, he should be otay. stilty Posted February 8, 2010 Report Share Posted February 8, 2010 Thanks R, That is a definite guide to go by, but what about the non date 1570 models? 5513, etc do not have the date module installed on the movement, correct? or do they have the module, minus the date disc. I've never looked at one in person, but doesn't the dial just sit on top of the mainplate, therefore the stem alignment would be different if the dial was seated on top of the date disc seat? I know someone that installed a 1570 in a 3135 case. He removed the date seat, swapped the CP and HW to shorter height. Rolex offers 2 hand heights for the 1570, so I'm guessing that is why? one set for 1570 with date module, and one set without. Again, never seen one, or worked on a non-date 1570, so I don't know. I am still waiting on parts to start work but will keep you posted. I haven't thought about the missing date wheel and stem alignment issues but have a 5513 planned as well. ubiquitous Posted February 8, 2010 Report Share Posted February 8, 2010 If you are using an MBW 5513 POLEX (originally fitted with a 2836-2), swapping in the 2846 sans datewheel will be no prob whatsoever.
