Francisco Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 The rep of PAM 253 Flyback Regatta has a problem in the centre chrono seconds hand. The blue colour is quite off; it is very dark in comparison with gen colour. Some pictures: REP: GEN To be honest, to achieve a given blue tone is very difficult and, normally, reps with some parts in blue have this problem. However, in this case, the difference is not acceptable. The owner of this Regatta sent me a picture of the gen to help me in the modding procedure. First step was to check if I could do the job. I discovered mixing airbrush colours on a plastic that I could find the correct blue. So, the movement is removed from the case: Hand is removed: When painting, the lume of the hand will be painted too. Therefore, it is better to remove the lume, and after painting, reluming the hand. The hand is ready for being painted: Painted hand: The result seems quite good: Now, time for reluming: Final result: Regards, Francisco.
Drulee Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Very well done, as usual, Francisco. The same procedure should be used for the 308, but it has two hands (chrono seconds, small right sub-dial hand) that need to be repainted. Could you share with us the correct colour of blue you used?
Francisco Posted February 11, 2010 Author Report Posted February 11, 2010 Paints are Vallejo, model air. Blue, number 4, and white. Anf you need a bit of thinner. Regards, Francisco
