DW 6263 valjoux 23 questions

I have an opportunity to purchase a valjoux 23 in good running order for a reasonable price. I already have a DW 6263 with an A7750. I was wondering the following:

1. What are your thoughts on the valjoux 23 vs A7750? I know the sub dial spacing should be on the money and that is a very good thing. Of course the hour totalizer would have to be fixed in place but who needs it anyway? I wonder if the valjoux 23 would be more robust. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I guess I would use the DW case that is made for the mystery movement. Would the dial be the same as the ones used for the valjoux 72?

I had a 6263 with V23 inside; serviced by Zig, it was a solid mech!

You will need to experiment with the hands, however. Some V72 hands work with certain pinions (I seem to recall hour and minute); subdial hands were from whatever V23 watch plundered for the movement. Center seconds was from my old DW mystery movement, I think? It's been a long time since I've thought about this one, so the details are a little fuzzy...

GP,

Why does the 12 hour totaliser hand need to frozen into place?

I thought the Val 23 tricompax worked well in this regard?

I'm eager to learn about this.

Thanks,

Garrett

The 6 o clock register on the v23 is a 24 hour counter, not a chronograph counter.

The V23 is a bi-compax (2 working subdial registers) while the V72 is a tri-compax (3 working subdial registers). That is the principle difference between these 2 Valjoux models.
