Hi,I've bought an original,used Daytona case ,I've already find the bezzel,hands and dials.Now I'm looking for an el primero 400 movement or also the Ebel version.Can someone help me to find one ? Thans

Hi,I've seen it but I thought the "correct " movement was the 400 ,and yes,the price is not so good if you think they don't know if it works(that means it DOESN'T work I think)

The El Primero 3019PHC is the same as the El Primero 400.

Though there are some 17j versions of the 3019...

I saw a Movado go for $880 last week, so just be patient ... you'll find one ....

Think I paid $800-ish for the Ebel 134/El Primero 400 in the one above; the 3019 was $1200, but that's because I had to buy a complete watch to pull the movement from.

Only thing I would suggest with the 3019's is that you should absolutely factor a service cost into the price; the 3019 is the older version of the 400, so getting everything overhauled is a good idea, especially if service history is unknown...

Do the newer dials fit the 400 subdial layout? If I take on this franken, I'm wanting a SS with a black MOP roman dial and I'm not sure if the placement shifted when they created the in-house movement. Thanks.

If you're looking to fit a dial intended for the 4130 (seconds at 6:00, hours at 9:00 and minutes at 3:00), that particular dial is caliber specific; i.e. it won't fit a 4030 or El Primero 400 movement. The subdials on the 4130 are positioned in a non-traditional manner due to the configuration of the reset lever; the 9:00 and 3:00 subdials are thus positioned above axis of the 9:00 and 3:00 indicies (they sit closer to 10:00 and 2:00).

To illustrate- This is a dial for the 4130 caliber (Rolex 116520)

And this is a dial for the 4030 (Zenith) caliber (Rolex 16520)

I've seen gen 4130's come up for sale, but by the time you're into a 4130 ($4300) with a gen 116520 case ($3500), you'd be left to find a dial, hands, bracelet etc. All said and done you'll be into it for around the same price as buying an outright gen on the low end.

As for the 116509 in your pic, the project to gen ratio is only slightly better as the gen is anywhere from $17k to $25k; finding the 18k WG case a la carte is going to be tricky, and even then the case alone is likely going to cost $7k; add in the bracelet and you're probably looking at $10k. Add in the movement, dial, etc. and you're at the low end figure for gen

Yes- That is for a 16523 two tone case that you purchased. I paid $1200 for my gen 16520 case 4 years ago. 116520 cases on the other hand are a completely different story; it's a completely different case altogether. The price you (or I paid) for an El Primero case is not comparable to a genuine 116520 case; a 116520 is the only case that will accept a 4130 in house movement, and are seldom seen for sale a la carte. When they do come up, they are easily $3500 or more. If you can find one for less, let me know.

I don't know whether it is going to help but River has listed for sale a pair of 16520 movement and movement. I asked him last month and he told me it is still available.

Thanks dvn I'll try to ask him.About the 116520 case,I know it only accept the in house movement so,in my opinion,is impossible to use it for a frenken or better,you'll have a frenken quite expensive as the original !!
