Yuki 6538 Project?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of starting a "Big Crown" submariner project using a Yuki case, Parts, and dial etc...However at the time all I can afford is to use an ETA movement. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? Is there anything extra I would have to do to use an ETA movement in a Yuki case?

I was thinking along the same lines... same question about finances more or less, with the new no crown guard cases from the cartel how much are we gaining with the extra $700 or so for a yuki?

I guess you missed Yuki's ETA adapter

Stilty has an ETA adapter, as well. It's a tad cheaper than Yuki's.

I emailed Yuki about using the ETA adaptor on the 6538 case and this was their response:

"Thank you for your interest and visit.

The 6538 repalcement case with 8mm big crown is USD 7xx.00.

Sorry this case didn't have development the adaptor.

Thank you and have a nice day."

Maybe Stilty's adaptor will work. If yes, then I am keen to embark on this project too.

Beware of Yuki's cases, I've just had some bad experiences with Yuki parts for a 1016 Explorer I project. First the dial was poor, and nothing like the pic on his site, then the 7206 bracelet turned up with 'Rolex' upside down on the clasp and it didn't take gen 2.0 mm springbars, finally the crystal and bezel came off during a hot water leakage test. The crystal did not fit the case properly and had been glued, it was stuck fast into the bezel. I ordered a T22 replacement which didn't fit, the dimensions of the case were badly off, Every single bit had to be returned, Yuki was at least good about refunding, but still cost me quite a bit in duty, VAT and handling and return postage. The project is now on hold for the forseeable future. Not good.
