  1. I got a notice for a registered package from china at the post office, only thing I can think of would be my black bay rep
  2. going through the perfect clones site and liked the vintage square hour hand look, are there versions of this type of IWC that are more accurate than others?
  3. I took a look at his watch, very nice piece but I am after the stubby hands. So trusty time I guess it is. Though I am on the lookout for a SBIII secondhand
  4. thanks, I'll take a look at trustytime
  5. Looking to get an IWC after only messing with rolex reps, I'm familiar with most of the rep dealers. Where would the IWC experts suggest I order something like this: the series is not that important, more after the dial and hands look.
  6. Looking for a cheap SD, which would you choose? http://www.1-pc8838.com/tuv10001-vintage-5514-style-date-submariner-asia-2813-p-12096.html http://www.puretime.co/product/sea-dweller-16600-superlumed-a2813/
  7. what would be the proper crown tube combination? Would it be a screw out screw in procedure or would I need to have the case tapped?
  8. picked up one of these to scratch my sea dweller itch... what does the hive mind suggest to make it closer to real life? I think I remember reading a new crown is in order? Is there a rep crown that is a simple swap out? Any other basic suggestions?
  9. it was the a21j, I'm to not have to change the hands so I was hoping for a drop in replacement
  10. I bought a cartel vintage sea dweller, aged pretty much everything and just as I was putting it back to together - tink - the stem snapped inside the movement. So I have half a stem inside the movement and half on the crown. I figure that for what it might cost me to get the stem replaced I can more than likely just buy a new movement - probably better. What would you suggest as an inexpensive drop in fit?
  11. so maybe it is not worth the $2,000 he wants?
  12. came across this for sale, in amazing shape if it is genuine....
  13. I've looked through the various posts and from the comments most reps are a hopeless mess of mistakes. That being said are there any reasonable off the shelf reps that are at least wearable facsimiles of a vintage sea dweller for a guy that likes the look, but does not need it anywhere near perfect?
  14. I am after a eta 251.262 movement watch, and from what I can see both the gen and the reps vintage 120's use this movement. Any sellers out there that can be considered a decent source? Interested in either the cream or black dial
  15. I must be blind, I can't find this model on the sites?
  16. good point on building one, think a canning "mason" jar would work as the pressure vessel?
  17. I have grown tired of trying to find someone to pressure test reps and have just about convinced myself to buy a pressure tester. The one I am looking at only goes to 100 meters, but that is enough for me to feel comfortable wearing my watches around water. Would there be any interest in pressure testing services at say $10 or so a watch? About the only way I could justify the cost to my wife...
  18. when you "take the crystal down" am I correct in assuming the method is to take it out of the watch and then sand, or grind, the open end until it is the right height?
  19. I have one waiting at the post office to pick up this afternoon, according to the seller all the large crowns have logos, the small crowns do not. If you want a large crown sterile he will send the case out to machine it out. I'll try and post some pictures tonight of the case.
  20. I'd take a couple of dials off your hands if you have extra to sell
  21. now that I think about it - I signed up for the timezone watch school and have the entire kit, never started the course, might be a good time to start.
  22. I have a couple of cases that I bought because they use a 29mm dial, not sure where I got them to be honest. I will let you know how it works. One case is a sub and the other is the no crown guards variety.
