PAM 183 radiomir - Good or Bad Rep?

Hi guys

I have been looking at Panerai from the sidelines for a long time now. I am now looking to take the plunge on a Pam Radiomir 183 Rose gold.

What do you guys think? Good or bad? What are the flaws?

I have looked in the forums but haven't been able to find much information.

Would really appreciate your comments and/or photos.

Thanks

Will it need any mods for perfection?

of course it'll need mods for perfection.. notably it will probably need a gen dial if you want it perfect. Even though pams are so simple in design. NOT ONE has every been made that's even close to perfect. There's alot more nearly perfect breitlings, rolexes, hublots and omegas... but for some reason the factories can never get the perfect panerai! :(

RG is usually a hard choice because the color is usually off.

Another thing is the display caseback. The rep movements can't hold a candle to the gens.

As for the dial, DSN is pretty good.

Another thing to look for on rads is the length of the crown tube. Some cases they are too long.

Thanks. I think you might be right about the Rose gold. I also wasn't too sure how long it would last before wearing off. Do you know of any dealers who sell the best radiomirs? Who sells the dsn dial version?

DSN is abbreviation for DAVIDSEN... DAvidsen is a dealer.. Check the dealer section you should find him

Here's your recipe of success:

1. Contact vaccum.

2. Cartel case (normally available for H series).

3. A6497 H movement with swan neck.

4. DSN Dials & Hands --> vaclume.

5. Tall H3 canon pinion mod.

6. Shortened crown tube.

7. Chief AR.

I have exactly that except with a G series movement and never regret anything.

What's the difference between G and H? I've only just noticed this.

the 183G says on the dial

RADIOMIR

PANERAI

BLACKSEAL

and have the G movement

the 183h says on the dial

RADIOMIR

BLACKSEAL

PANERAI

and have the H movement

but it is a classic looking watch :-)

Thanks for the info. Is one more accurate or better than the other?

Love your car on the profile picture by the way!

The 183 has been in production since 2004 and the letter is used by Panerai to denote the production year. G was 2004 and H was 2005.

The G series movement had the "panerai" deco but the H series uses the new cotes de geneve deco.

f.
