MADRED7 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Dear All, I like to present my latest creation, the AP ROO RACER. This started life as an old model SAFARI with white instead of cream dial. Watch was completely torn into its pieces. Case, bezel and caseback got a micro-blasting (with glas pearls). The result is a dull silver look, matte in appearance and a wonderfull touch and feel. It looks like made of alloy. The bezel got new black PVD screws. Movement was serviced and the watch got a waterproof treatment during re-build. Unfortunately my watchsmith messed my dial up....I painted one of the numbers in alloy-silver....he cleaned the dial and also "cleaned" my silver paint Anyway....I attached a rubber strap with punched-in racer holes....done! The result is a one-off, a limited edition of 01/01 pieces....like to hear your comments. Thx for looking Theo P.S.: I need to get black lume on the hands to make the watch complete
specialvat Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Like it, how about a wrist shot ?
MADRED7 Posted September 12, 2010 Author Report Posted September 12, 2010 And on request of some members here are some wristies and a comparison with a SILVER Themes. Theo
dluddy Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Looks awesome Theo. Like it better than the SIlver Themes
neverworn Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 awesome!! the finish of the case fits the dial und strap perfectly!! nice work theo!!
Watchmeister Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Theo- It looks great. I am loving that case finish.
sander Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Great looking watch. I'm not sure about the strap though. I think I would prefer a black croc with white stitch. Don't go for lume for the hands. Just use black paint. Looks better and way easier to get
MADRED7 Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 Good suggestion with the black paint....I like to go the easy way I do have a bracelet for this model in the same finish (beat-blasted)....I need to mount it in the next days and will post another pic. Thx for all your kind words. Theo
Toadtorrent Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 That's what the hobby is about...
bosk Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Awesome looking watch. The concept of the strap is really cool but the holes could use some smoothing....perhaps using heat to melt the rubbber smooth?
1976 Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I love the blasted case, also i would like to make you a suggestion if you dont mind, check the 2 straps from APbands i think they will look excellent with your watch.
MADRED7 Posted September 16, 2010 Author Report Posted September 16, 2010 Yeah, the 2nd strap is really nice and would look the [censored] on my watch. Theo
OSRep Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Great work Theo, LOVE IT!!!! Yeah you should stick a nice CF strap on it........
donpedro Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 DAMN, that's cool looking! Real high-tech-style!
jchurch Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 Both of those straps would look amazing on it. I really like the look and finish on the strap you have though.
Nick2T Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 I don't like AP's but yours just keep me coming back to this!
horologik Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Beautiful case! Where did you get that done?
MADRED7 Posted October 6, 2010 Author Report Posted October 6, 2010 Beautiful case! Where did you get that done? Work was done by a local "coating-company"....they do sandblasting, microblasting, beadblasting and many sorts of coatings...especially for motocycles and cars. Cheers Theo
