modelizer Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Hi gang, Does anyone know a good source (or any at all) for 7734 date wheels? Can't seem to find anything anywhere..
ubiquitous Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I'll need to check, but I might have a spare or two. I've given a few away, so I'm not 100% sure of what I have in inventory these days. But if I do... You're certainly welcome to have one gratis!

I would not mind paying for it though!
ubiquitous Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Nah... If I have one, it's yours. So, hopefully I have one
modelizer Posted September 20, 2010 Author Report Posted September 20, 2010 That is extremely generous of you.. And would be much appreciated of course! *fingers crossed*
ubiquitous Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Just had a look through my parts; I have 2824/2892, 2836 and 2783 datewheels, but unfortunately no more 7734s Sorry buddy.
modelizer Posted September 21, 2010 Author Report Posted September 21, 2010 No worries my friend.. Thanks for checking though!
lhooq Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 There were a couple on eBay a few months ago, but they don't seem to show up too often. Maybe I should've bought one. If I ever do start a Monte Carlo build, I'd hate to have one with a red date!

If I ever do start a Monte Carlo build, I'd hate to have one with a red date! Yep, they seem pretty hard to come across nowadays.. Haha! Funny you mentioned the Monte Carlo build, as that was my reason for looking for it in the first place. However, everything got solved when I found a NOS 7734 with 45 minute counter at a very reasonable price! So all that is left now is receiving all parts and assemble it.. So wish me luck!
lhooq Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Somehow I guessed you weren't going to use that movement for a Lip Mach 2000 franken. Which case will you be using? DW, or one of the more expensive options?
modelizer Posted September 24, 2010 Author Report Posted September 24, 2010 True that! I'm not really a Lip Mach 2000 kinda guy.. I will be using DW's case and new dial (which looks very good IMO), hence the "wish me luck" thingy..
Merlin Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 shouldn't the Poljot P3133 datewheels fit as well?
lhooq Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Unfortunately, there's practically zero parts commonality between the 3133 and the 7734. All they share is a strong resemblance.

modelizer Posted September 24, 2010 Author Report Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) Yes, they do differ quite a bit unfortunately. Saw a detailed comparison on the two movements (in parts) a while ago, can't remember where though.. Edit: thanks LHOOQ, that's the exact comparison I was talking about! lhooq Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 I looked into this some months ago when talk about DW's Monte Carlo first began. 7734 prices were starting to climb, and I thought a 3133 would work just fine. But then I read this great comparison written last year. One of the last pictures is a two-shot of the datewheels. Not only are the teeth profiled differently, but they turn in different directions, too!
ubiquitous Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 V7734 and P3133 have a completely different calendar mech. As such, the design of the datewheel is quite a bit different... image borrowed from another siteLHOOQ beat me to the punch!
modelizer Posted September 24, 2010 Author Report Posted September 24, 2010 the date at 3 are available €19 each but not date at 6, which are you looking for Thanks mate. I was looking for a date @6 one - but solved it by finding a great priced NOS 7734 incl a black figure date wheel.
maxman Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Thanks mate. I was looking for a date @6 one - but solved it by finding a great priced NOS 7734 incl a black figure date wheel. Sweet
chiman12 Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 The date wheel from a V234 is also interchangable with the 7734...
marsupilami Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 ebay seller vacheron_nl had some for sale lately. but the fond was too modern (without serifs)
modelizer Posted September 30, 2010 Author Report Posted September 30, 2010 Great news about the V234 interchangability!
