It certainly is a beautiful bridge, and I'm sure we needed it. Just don't tell me what it cost, because I already know we can't afford it!

Purdy bridge. My only question would be...why do you need to bypass the route that is already there?

Great pics. Quite impressive actually. And the reason for the bridge should be somewhat obvious to anyone who has driven around that area. It's quite slooowwwww. Traffic is always a mess around there. If you are trying to get from Nevada to Arizona in a hurry, it's not going to happen by gong that route. The bypass bridge should be quite nice.

It is also a major truck and transportation route so the bypass will alleviate the slowness due to the tourist traffic for the dam

It is an amazing project, pretty much along the same lines as the Millau Viaduct

Both are awesome, inspirational pieces of engineering and architecture - sometimes you just gotta do something bonkers to inspire people and remind them that we are actually pretty damn awesome as a race, when we put our minds to it and stop arguing amongst each other

I used to live in Vegas for 5 years and they built that because there is only one single route out of town that way. The current road leads straight to the Hoover damn for the tourists. It gets extremely congested because the speed limit through that area is like 25 MPH. So they created that over pass to bypass all that congestion.
