Are there several crystals that will work with the 1665?

As I plan my 1665 out and review my material I'm looking for some verification on a couple things.

I have read earlier 1665's had the t-39 superdome, DRSD and the later GW had a flatter "medium dome tropic". Is this correct? Also when sent to Rolex for servicing they sometimes replaced with god knows what.

Would a T-19 also work for a GW 1665? Is it even accurate for that watch?

for the 1665, you'd want the tropic 39, and yea I think the DRSD uses the superdome, while the great white uses the flat one. The T-19 is a direct fit for 1665, but it's used for the 5513. It's totally up to you though.

t-19 isnt tall enough for the sea-dwellers thicker bezel. Superdome or flat top.. its up to you. The flat top was generally used as the service replacement crystal at RSC.

I fitted a clarks T19 to a 1665 white and was very happy with the result due to the price of a t19 compared to that for a T39, if you look in my sig there should be a couple of pictures about of it

I did the same as Andy, I liked the way the T19 looked opposed to the "Super Dome", which I also had.

I guess it depends on what look you like... I like the big dome look of the t-39. I even put a t-39 superdome on my 1680 that I just finished.. you "low dome" boys probably wont like this one then hahaha
