kingkitesurf
Has anybody here seen a 1680 based Comex rep from MBW/WM? Does it exist or do you have to get the MBW 1680 and find a Comex dial to go along? Cheers

buckeye
KKS: here's a recent Watchmaster ad from TRC for his Comex...complete with pics...you might want to send him a PM because it doesn't say it's been sold....BTW, it does have HE valve. http://www.replicacollector.com/members/in...showtopic=25977 Edited October 2, 2006 by buckeye
kingkitesurf
Thanks guys... I know that one... But this is the 1665 based Comex... I am looking for a 1680 version... It is different... I read that the genuines have valves in the case made specifically to accomodate Comex divers. Or am I mistaking? I did quite some reading on the topic lately... but the info differs a lot...
alligoat
You need to get Skeet and Urul's book, "Vintage Rolex Sport Models" or vice versa, "Rolex Vintage Sport Models", which I don't have here at work, but there was the 5514 Comex and then the 1665 Comex. I believe the 5514 was equipped w/ the HE valve. The SRSD used a sub case and had the HE valve and was a pre-production model (less depth rating), followed by the 1665 DRSD, c. 1967. The Comex models came out around the same time and were also equipped w/ the HE valve. I'm not aware of any 1680 sub w/ a HE valve.
Tribal
Ask WM He can change the dial and whole movemnt from the Sd to a 1680 Sub... It's the same dial
HighDef
SD models has HV but no cyclop. Subs are the other way arround, unless the no dates ( it will look silly with cyclop but no date )
ubiquitous
You want the 5514- Very first watch in the Rolex line with the He valve. this was the Sea-Dweller's predacesor... BTW- Skeet & Urul's guide is not one of the books I'd recommend for Rolex facts.
