seafoam Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Ok, so this acquisition was a bit of a production. I bought the watch on the bay for cheap as it was dropped and needed repair. Basically long story short (took forever to fix), it needed a new crystal (which was expensive!), new hands and movement service (also expensive). End of the day, it costs me $1900.00 with the full service by Tag certified tech. I sold 3 of my favorite reps to fund it so really, not too painful financially. I love the classic look of this Tag and the movement is spot on (base ETA 2894-2 I believe). Anyway, just thought I’d share my experience with this one and some quick mediocre photos. Thanks for looking. seafoam
nikki6 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Nice catch Seafoam, sounds really nice!! I always think there is something much classier about a tri-compax chrono against the 12,9,6 config!! Wear it well mate!! Sixx
seafoam Posted December 23, 2010 Author Report Posted December 23, 2010 Nice catch Seafoam, sounds really nice!! I always think there is something much classier about a tri-compax chrono against the 12,3,6 config!! Wear it well mate!! Sixx Thanks Sixx. Yeah, the seconds at 3 are a bit different for me. I've never owned a chronograph that uses the 2894-2 movement.
Irontomkidd Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Tis the season for gen’s… Good looking watch, and good catch. Wear it well
cougar1 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Love that watch, classic, its both dressy and sporty. Chronos are nice when the arent overly busy like this. Enjoy it!
seafoam Posted December 25, 2010 Author Report Posted December 25, 2010 Yes, gens are taking over my box. Thanks for the comments gentlemen.

Utheman Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 I love that one Seafoam. Even though it meant giving up your BK Transformer and others, I think it was worth it.
seafoam Posted December 26, 2010 Author Report Posted December 26, 2010 Thanks again guys for the comments. And Utheman, thanks to you for helping me fund this . The Transformer truly was the hardest one to let go . I hope it's treating you as well as it did me. sf
redwatch Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Great acquisition B! Nicely done. Classic, simple, sporty/dressy looks all at the same time. It's a great looking piece!
seafoam Posted December 27, 2010 Author Report Posted December 27, 2010 ClipSlap, love the Ralph video loop. Thanks Red and yes, so far it has been very versatile in terms of what/where to wear it.
eclone Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) nice watch.. very classic.. worth the hassle.. Edited December 27, 2010 by eclone
seafoam Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) I just dropped some coin on an OEM ss bracelet for this guy. I'll post pictures once i have the bracelet sized. Here is a random web photo: Crappy pict, but thoughts? image hosting service Edited February 7, 2011 by seafoam
Utheman Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Nice! I've always been a fan of ss bracelets over straps. They always feel more comfortable to me, esp the gen ones. Post some pics when you get it.
mellons Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 the carrera is hte nicest tag by far....
seafoam Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks for commenting guys. I seem to always have to convince myself to wear a watch with a strap but always gravitate back to the bracelet. It's nice to have the option though .
redwatch Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Good call on the bracelet I think! Leather is nice, but I agree with W that the OEM bracelet is way more comfortable.
boneventura Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 NICE! I've got exactly the same! But I have it on a black rally strap. Since Tag doesn't make that in brown, and I really love it in brown, I got one handmade. It's on its way now, can't wait!!
seafoam Posted February 8, 2011 Author Report Posted February 8, 2011 Good call on the bracelet I think! Leather is nice, but I agree with W that the OEM bracelet is way more comfortable. Thanks Red. Yeah, i think that's why i almost always end up with the bracelet. COMFORT

P4GTR Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 The rep Carrera bracelet is really good. You're in good shape. I have some suggestions after trials and tribulations with my own 42mm Carrera (rep). I sold a current production gen TAG, and at the time used some of the profits for my Carrera rep. Have to say I spent quite a bit of time researching, and got bit along the way. Let me say that the rep bracelet is excellent, gen leather is worth the price, but grab the rep deployant. Aftermarket leather worth a damn is pricey, the gen is an exceptional value, even at twice the cost, $100 gen leather is much more substantial than anything you can find for $60+ I'm happy for you, thats a great watch you picked up.
