bkwbkw Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 hi All, I picked up a PT 1680 recently and had begun modding it with a clark crystal, a gen 702 crown/tube, lug holes, gen spring bars, etc.. and then took a close look at the dial and was appalled at the lack of quality and QA in the print and font. The date wheel opening was too far right, therefore the any date over the 9th would be either cut off or hidden from view, as seen below - it's the 11th and I can only see the 1 in 11. But the worst part is the printing of the 200m = 660ft as shown below. Anyone try fitting a postless yuki dial over the PT 2846 movement? Will the datewheel line up with the window? Dumb questions, I know - but I'd like to hear some experiences before investing the $$ into a new dial which costs almost as much as the watch its going into. Thanks!
Dizzy Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 Yes it will line up perfectly. The datewheel is correct, but the PT datewindow is off for some reason.
bkwbkw Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 Thanks Dizzy! Hopefully after the dial and the JMB retaining ring, I'll be done with this little project, and onto my next
highoeyazmuhudee Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 date window is off because these dials are used as ETA blanks
Dizzy Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I guess that a good way for the rep factory to save 4 cents per watch.
ubiquitous Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 bkw- Did my package to you ever arrive?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I guess that a good way for the rep factory to save 4 cents per watch. i was thinking something more fractional
