  1. Fantastic pictorial, thanks! I'm now thinking I should have picked up an orange strap for the 26.. have a blue croc, gray cros, and a mustard calf with black stitching en route.
  2. In for one too. After cracking the display caseback on my 177L, I wont ever use duct tape again.
  3. Here's a picture of what I was told to be a gen xtal. This is very close to one of my Clark 127's I have used. You can plainly see that the mag is much stronger. Also, the one on my white 1680 sits much higher than the others - I havent sanded it down yet, and if I do, it'll negatively impact the magnification.
  4. Picked up something strange yesterday from an eBay seller who claims is a member of NAWCC selling gen 127's. The magnification just doesnt look right when compared to my older gen 127's and Clark 127's. Are Clark 127's 3x? If so, then I would guess that this is 2.5x If Clark 127's arent 3x, then are there 2x gen 127's? When comparing my watch against stock photos of 1680's, the cyclops mag looks weak. Here are two pictures. First one is of the cyclops and the second is the height of the xtal so you can see that the cyclops is raised pretty high from the date window. Update: I contacted the seller and asked him for his NAWCC credentials and his opinion on gen vs clark plexis
  5. But at least it's the right color (almost)! Very nice, and I really love the 1950's case. Hopefully someone will post a caseback shot soon.
  6. Found these: http://www.eta.ch/swisslab/6497/6947.html and http://www.homageforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=3412&view=previous and I've come to the realization that I don't have the skills required to perform this Looks like I'll have to enlist one of the guys here.. anyone know who can take care of this quickly without too long of a wait? I've waited weeks for my 005 and then again for the ofrei movement.. can't stand not having the watch in my possession!
  7. A quick nudge of the center wheel got it started.. but I'm certain that the movement is bone dry and needs servicing. Are there any DIY's on how to service 6497-1's?
  8. Hey All, Had an ETA 6497 (brand new from Ofrei) installed by my watch maker and I can't seem to get it to start. It's totally wound up, nothing blocking the balance wheel or anything I can see with the back removed. Even tried a 'love tap' to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  9. I really like the way the olive green thread contrasts against the leather. Very nice!
  10. Check out Camera+. I like it better than Hipstamatic.
  11. Ordered one.. Wont be shipping till the 20th, so once it arrives I'll do a full photo session.
  12. http://img651.imageshack.us/i/69067457.jpg/ DLC looks very light. Hmm.. $268 + shipping? Very tempting!
  13. Link doesnt work for me. can someone it here? And who's the dealer?
  14. Do either have them still in stock? Theyre both sourced from the same factory so no difference except for perhaps customer service and QA. I've noticed that Josh sends at least 4-5 detailed pics of the watch, while Angus only sends 1-2, but if you ask for more, he'll oblige.
  15. That's my thread over there on w-c. Been trying to do the legwork to get the right parts for an ETA 6497-1 swap, but also picked up a highbeat 6497-"2" from getat. I'll put the getat into my beater 005 and the ETA into my DLC'd one.
  16. Wow!! If you ever decide to sell that 186, please keep me in mind! I've been in the market for a good sub for a long time now.
  17. Uhh.. how is it possible to lose or forget that youre not wearing a 44mm PAM on a 5mm thick strap at work? At home I guess there may be instances where/how you can misplace it, but at work??? Are you the guy from the movie Memento?
  18. Found a really sweet camera app. Now my two favorite cam apps are Camera+ and Hipstamatic.
  19. How does the distance between the crown and case look?
  20. Just put my order in for PT's fiver and have a feeling I'll be needing to do something to the crown to move it away from the case. Unfortunately, I'm not a pamaholic and unsure how to go about this therefore I have some questions. I want to do this right so it keeps its water integrity. Is there a tube on the case that can be backed out a bit? What about a new stem and an extra tube gasket? I fear it may not be water tight after this. I've read a post stating that the dish on the crown needs to be cut down a bit. Would that affect water resistance since the crown wont sit as flush to the tube gasket? Is there a PAM modder out there that specializes in simple projects like this? Thanks!
  21. I recently received a (2nd) 1680 from Josh, this time the 21J. No plastic ring and it takes a clark 127 just fine unlike the PT where it needs a plastic ring and the crystal fits too tightly over the case. Also, the tube takes a gen 703 crown. I just wish Josh's 1680 had better and meatier crown guards.
