redwatch
That is stunning! Is that the original dial color, or has it aged slightly?
JoJo35
That is stunning! Is that the original dial color, or has it aged slightly? The lacquer has probably aged a little. You'll see that the tritium has definitely taken on a nice patina. I've read where some say these were all originally silver dials, while others argued that they were champagne. You could probably spend days on end researching these pieces, there's lots of info out there. All of the original dials that I've seen look like this one. I'm of the silver dial persuasion myself, but that's because I've got two silver dials which have changed to biege. This DJ on the right and a 1500 Date which I can't find a pic of. d-rock
Beautiful watch, JoJo. Now why couldn't Rolex have made these in a 40-41mm size ?? Edited January 16, 2011 by d-rock
JoJo35
Beautiful watch, JoJo. Now why couldn't Rolex have made these in a 40-41mm size ?? Thanks DR At 36mm, the size of the 1530 Date is pure classic Rolex. In fact, some of my very favorite pieces are just 34mm. Take this gilt chocolate Air King for example:
