Most of the people I think they say to have it in the adjusting position when you do it. If I remember correctly The Zigmeister says to do it when in winding position so I do it that way following The Zigmeisters advice. I guess there is no definitive right or wrong on this one just different ways to do it.

I guess there is no definitive right or wrong on this one just different ways to do it. The right way to do it is to wind down the spring and leave it in the winding position, but most non-experts (myself included) will use the setting position so the hands stop moving the cheap way.
