It looks to me like this area is color-keyed to the color around the sub-dials... And, before anybody asks, the grey one has been adopted by woof* and will be going to live with him soon... And when comparing to the original (GEN), the 'brownish' overtones of the dial (I think) give it more of a warmer 'three dimensional feel' to it. Where as the GEN looks very two dimensional (in person). When I stopped in at the AD last week, the sales manager made me leave with this very expensive-looking, full-color, 1/2 inch thick book on the Tudor Watch and it's history. TeeJay Posted April 5, 2011 Report Share Posted April 5, 2011 Thanks for the comparison shots, it's interesting to see the two side by side like that I would say that the light grey outer track of the black dial makes the overall dial look larger, but the black subsection looks smaller than the grey subsection on the other, it really is just a play on the two colors It's interesting that the grey dial still hasn't really caught your eye as a keeper, and I'm wondering if it might be because you do like your 34-36mm watches, and the black dial appears to have a smaller 'main dial area' Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But again, this was an expensive little book to put together with very high quality thick matte finish paper...115 pages. Don't know why they scanned so crudely. Interesting to note that they say that the Tudor Heritage has: "a new calibre for chronographs based on the Tudor 2892." They also have an additional three (3) pages detailing ALL movements, whic look to be all ETA, starting with Tudor Calibre 2671, 2824, 2834, 2892, 7753, 7754. I think it's like with everything, it's all a matter of personal taste, and also depends on how big you want your collection to be I'm only planning ( ) on having three chronos in my collection: braceleted, leather strap, and NATO, (I'm even debating not building a Newman, so I can keep the 1655 on the leather cuff Orlando Bloom-style) so I probably wouldn't want to double up on a model simply to have one of each color variation*, so I can totally understand where you're coming from * That said, I might wind up with two snowflakes... One in the black plastic case, another on the NATO strap military-style, simply because I've found out today that the plastic sub is just as uncomfortable in the heat as a metal bracelet, making NATO the way to go Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Just got back into town and have been wearing it the whole time. So far I am kind of neutral in my response. I don't hate it, but I'm not knocked out by it either. All in all it is a decent, solid feeling piece. One thing that does bug me though is my orange stop-watch hand does not quite 'zero-in' at '12'. It will be just slightly almost a 2/10th's of a second fast...then I double click the reset button, and it goes back to just under 1/10 of a second (almost 12)...then the next time I look at it, (all by itself) it's back to 2/10's (off 12). So I just reset it and double click again. I'm doing this throughout the day, because it bothers me to see that little imperfection. Keeps perfect time...has average lume...a hundred dollars...what's not to like, already...? JMB, regarding the clasp...what was the clasp like on the original Monte Carlo...? I love the clasp Sure, it would be nice if it was more accurate, or if the leaves were at least stamped 'Tudor', but given that the original THC clasp is of the same design as the DSSD clasp, I honestly believe that it's a welding failure waiting to happen This kind of clasp, inaccurate as it may be, simply cannot fail in the same manner as the welded clasps, so for me, while it's an inaccuracy of replication, it is (IMHO) a functional improvement I just received mine as I was leaving town for a week holiday at the beach (took the wife and daughter and it was great). Exactly It's none too shabby, and an excellent daily beater JMB, regarding the clasp...what was the clasp like on the original Monte Carlo...? I believe the original Monte Carlo had a Rolex-branded clasp, as on models like the 1655.
