kinglazy Posted June 17, 2011 Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Hi There! I just received my PAM359 few days ago from Puretime! I wound it initially about 30 times to get it going, everything was running fine, I was wearing it and it was keeping good time. ABout 1 and a half days later, it ran out of juice while I was wearing, as if the rotor is not winding it. SO I wound it up again, reset the time, and same thing happened again today while wearing. It seems to function more like a mechanical watch rather than an automatic! Anybody have this issue with this movement? richard lawton Posted June 17, 2011 Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Hi, Please check the auto rotor bearing, I had a problem with mine it was very loose and the rotor was catching in the bridge and not winding. I contacted Pure time and sent a photo of the problem and they sent me a new bearing, which I installed and now everything is fine. Maybe yours has this problem. kinglazy Posted June 17, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Hi Richard, The rotor seems to be winding ok. I don't see any wobble, and it rotates very easily. Any other way for me to check? I can't and don't have any expertise or tools to open the caseback btw. How did you find out that yours was loose and not winding correctly? Thanks for sharing with pics. richard lawton Posted June 17, 2011 Report Share Posted June 17, 2011 Hi, I had the same problem as you low power reserve. When I rotated the watch slowly I could hear the slight friction of the rotor, only slight, but enough to stop winding the watch sufficiently when being worn. I shook the watch and moved the rotor, the seconds hand started moving, so it is winding the watch. SO I can't figure out why it stops after every 40 hours or so when I'm wearing it daily. Ddc Posted June 19, 2011 Report Share Posted June 19, 2011 Hi all, this is a great community and a great forum, and this is my first posti!! So here it is: I had the same problem and the fix is actually quite simple but requires a little skill. The rotor while it spins, "it Winds The watch" but it does it while it spins in one direction only. When the rotor spins in the other direction, the bearings allow it but the gear it winds is actually "parked" in place. The problem with MY watch was that the "parking break" was not engaging so when the rotor was winding in one direcion, it was unwinding the mechanism in the other. The solution is to bend the break a little to make it engage the gear properly. I did it and now i have a 2 day power reserve... When you remove the rotor you will clearly see the gear the rotor spins, and you will see a spy hole showing a tiny metal "needle" that is supposed to press against it. That needle is supposed to allow the gear to spin in only one direction. You'll get it when you see it. Bend it a little and it will be fixed.. I also added a little grease to the bearings of the rotor to add a little bit of drag which is good... Hope this helps... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have to wind my 359 to get it running. unfortunately, I know nothing about watch mechanisms, so would be very hesitant to use Ddc's suggestion :S If it helps, mine is VERY reluctant to rotate clockwise (if the watchback is facing me), but rotates freely counterclockwise. You go ahead and send it back to China, less risky and a lot cheaper than letting your local watchmith look at it and fix it in 2 minutes The logic of some people...
