  1. Been called out by a fake watch dealer. He tried to sell me a canal street cheapo for $1000 and when I laughed at his price and pointed out inaccuracies that anyone with a fleeting knowledge of panerai would know, he said : "this is a good fake, not cheap fake like yours." I was wearing a gen...
  2. Going to add some size to this party :-P Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  3. For now, all the 321s with updated movement are from the same factory, and most dealers can get it
  4. No love for the hublot caviar? The movement is poorly replicated but on the wrist it really looks the part
  5. Hmmm....if there was a shortage of space and someone parked like that, I daresay they deserve a scratch! I see a lot of those entitled kids here in the middle east. But of course if its an empty lot, it's a different argument. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. Although I'm looking for the tells and I don't see them, apart from horrible photos. The insert engraving is platinum not white and you can see reflective flecks. The dial has the correct 12800= spacing. The triangle is slightly curved. The pearl isn't that awful pimple that most reps have. Anyway, if I can get it verified properly, I'll go for it, else no. 7. Got in touch with a massive dealer in preowned watches. They do verification, so I might try to get the seller there. If he balks, I guess it's time to keep looking.
  8. Hmm, what's wrong with the insert? If you zoom in, it seems to have that platinum dust look... The pics are bad, but so are mine in general and I'm considering buying it :-) The pearl seemed weird to me too btw, slightly offset by the fact that the triangle seems good
  9. Guys, wanted your feedback on this watch. It's being offered for sale, with box and warranty sheet, local seller. Seems gen to me, but would love to get the views of more educated members than myself. Any input would be appreciated (and might save me from forking out $9k for a rep!)
  10. Btw nanuq, youre quite the doxa expert i gather, so do you feel it's a good price? While as rare as certain rolexes, there is little comparison in terms of brand name and appeal. I've seen doxas usually trade for around 1500 or so, and this one has some aftermarket parts on it...just wondering if you feel that this would be an easy watch to sell without losing money after a year or so? 11. That is some beat up sapphire crystal. Unless he regularly swims in pools filled with diamonds, how the hell could he get it in that condition?
  12. Yep, think 2007 rep lume for comparison. The h-fac 318 kills the gen 359! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  13. Say what you will about urwerk, but you definitely can't call them 'derivative'. Unlike our friends at Hublot, they actually tried a striking different design, with the mechanism to match. If I had crazy coin, I would buy this - wouldn't be my only watch though... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  14. completely off topic, but how much below mrsp did you pay for the Hublots from your friend? Asking so I know the max possible discount if I decide to get one. :-)
  15. You were on the right track there :-). While I haven't owned an iPhone 5, I do have the iPhone 4 and the iPad 3 in my house (amongst numerous other apple devices); the s3 is better by leaps and bounds especially if you're the type who enjoys experimenting with his hardware. If you don't want to play around too much, then I guess it makes no difference. Apart from those few days a year you choose to fling your phone out of a 2nd story window, I'd say the samsung wins. (again, my perception is based on the 4, not the 5, but based on what I'm hearing it's not a revolutionary upgrade)
  16. Honestly one of the least attractive rolexes IMO. It looks like they went to canal street in the 1980s for design inspiration.
  17. I think I might have found the best of both worlds. Lenovo z580 with an i7 3rd gen processor, with 2gb video ram, for just $35 more - although I'll need to spend another $35 on adding some additional ram, but that's it.
  18. Btw, you do realize the reason macs don't have that is due to limited popularity right? Recently however, as macs gain some market share, I've been hearing about viruses / malware targeting macs as well.
  19. To each their own I suppose. Name any current apple product and there is one in my house (MacBook, iPhone, iPod, iPad); while they were certainly interesting when they first came out, I think in my next upgrade cycle, I will move to android devices for the iOS devices. And the MacBook just never spoke to me - found it difficult to customize, very few games available, abhor the mouse and menu system, so on. I don't think I ever went a day of using it without some aspect of it annoying me. I may consider a MacBook again in the future, but I certainly don't think it will be in the next 2-3 years. If its about the hardware, for the same price, you can usually get a better spec'ed windows rig. No matter how you cut it, the Mac would be a poorer choice (for me at least).
  20. Which OS gives you as much variety for games, applications, etc? Certainly not apple, nor Linux. I know I can dual boot a windows OS onto an apple, but why pay a substantial premium for the added inconvenience? Plus, while I own certain apple products (and perversely their shares), I'm definitely not a fan of how limiting their products tend to be. And Linux doesn't have certain products that I need for the few times I'll use the laptop for work.
  21. Hi All, Thinking of buying a new laptop soon, and i've narrowed down my choices to the following two: Lenovo Ideapad z580A, using an i5-3210m processor @2.5Ghz, 6GB RAM, and an nVidia Geforce GT 630M 2GB processor HP Pavillion G6-2080, with an i7-3612QM @2.1Ghz, 6GB RAM, and an AMD Radeon HD 7670M with 1GB dedicated video ram. The CPU processors are pretty different performance wise: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3210M+%40+2.50GHz http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-3612QM+%40+2.10GHz The GPUs are pretty similar (although one has 2x the video ram). They are #124 and #130 in this list: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html Given that I use my computer for gaming as well as normal tasks, should I opt for the 2GB video processor, albeit with a much worse CPU (the i5-3210m); or should i opt for the substantially better CPU (i7-3612QM) with the 1GB graphics card from AMD? I know desktops are better, but I need the mobility, and am constrained my price; these are the two best builds in my budget unfortunately. Im not much of a tech guy, and the guys at the store are completely useless and try to upsell, I was hoping someone here might be able to help! Thanks!
  22. This is the first meal I've seen where the pubic hair on the side made it look MORE appealing, rather than less. :-)
  23. :-) you can pick some friends, but usually can't pick everyone in your circle...
  24. LV is horrible for customer service - I've never had a problem with that in Hermes, they just never have the H buckle in my size and color combo available. You can get it if you want it in red and blue, but never normal colors like black and brown.
