  1. Thanks, now I'll always wonder where the over-ripe brown lemons have been...
  2. Proof that quality reps are a total chick magnet. Although given what this guy has done, I certainly hope she gave him gonorrhea.
  3. More importantly, wouldn't they know the case back is FAR from 1:1. The 318 CB on the gen is sharply engraved with a lot of detail. This one looks like the 318 case back when viewed through the bottom of a beer mug.
  4. Thanks all - decided to pull the trigger on the 318 since the 005 isnt in stock, and given how long the 177 took, I dont want to wait for months on end. Will try to post pics as and when I receive it!
  5. Not the PAM expert, but I've been looking for the same recently. Most accurate seems to be the 288, followed by the 005, 318 and 177 in that order. The 005 and 318 do well because of the closed caseback.
  6. Guys, I'm sure this has been discussed before but good luck using search for '318' or anything (search won't work for less than 4 characters). I'm thinking of picking up a daily beater Pam super-rep and don't feel radiomir cases as much(ie: want a luminor case) I understand that the best out of the box ones are 219, 026, (dislike destros, so not going for either), and the 005/318. Apart from case back, is there any other difference? Why is the 005 more popular given that the movement MUST look incorrect and more people would know that than the case back of the 318. Any other massive tells on these two watches? If someone can even just post a good link that would help no end. Thanks all!
  7. In Dubai, gen watches are very common. Most of the douchier Investment banker crowd (guilty) will rock Panerai; Sales and trading will be wearing rollies. Then you have me, wearing a dutchie.
  8. Hear hear, I had the pleasure of meeting Paul recently and he helped me out immensely. Incredible guy.
  9. You know, he wasnt JUST a terrorist. There was a playful, childlike side to him the media never wanted you to know about. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q61/tbhager/hide.jpg
  10. Hey PT - if you're wondering why not too many people are signing up on the other thread, its coz we're not allowed to post
  11. If anyone is interested, heres a 360 degree view of the gen: Btw: is the color of the steel on the Angus rep as brilliantly white as gen?
  12. Apart from upstaging Flava Flav, what is the right contect for a 50mm watch? (kidding - I'm slowly starting to like 47mms, so gimme another yr and I might find 52mm to be too small)
  13. Dragging a post out from the dead, but looks like GQ got this one wrong. Big watches are here to stay for a while to come - 42/44mm is the new 38.
  14. It definitely started out as insanity. Just one choice quote: "If that is indeed your mates watch, you need a better class of friends though. Be careful nothing rubs off on you.". And then I've seen multiple "losers", being a lower class of citizenry, etc. But in the middle, voices of reason and moderation made their appearance. Its sad that THIS thread is amongst the most mature. I get it though, those forums are no place to show off reps. But damn, do they seem to attract an immature sort of individual. Not ripping on the forums, but definitely some of the posters seem to be the sort of person who you'd hate if you knew in real life as well.
  15. Thing is, I was told the service was 6 months back, so the bed-in process should have been complete. That having been said, I've reset the time and will look at it closely again (3rd time in 3 days). I just feel like an idiot because in addition to this, his posting didn't reflect (to the best of my memory) a dent in the bezel, scratches on the AR or a strap that was at 70%. Will wait for repgeek to be functional again, and check the ad once again to see if any of this was disclosed (although given how anal I am about scratches, I would have noticed a mention of this I think). Else, I feel like I got a pretty raw deal since I paid the price of a new watch, a new strap, and servicing (which was key - watch repairers in my country are mediocre at best, and bad in general); and I got a slightly damaged watch, well used strap, and non-evident servicing. Somehow though, I think that I'm unlikely to get any funds back. Lets see...
  16. So I bought a watch from a user on the forums, and paid a premium as it was serviced and regulated (according to him). I get the watch, and it takes ages to start running - since its an A7750, I dont want to wind it, as I understand that creates problems. Additionally, this serviced and regulated watch and running 1 1/2 minutes slow. I've had better time from watches straight from the dealer. Am I being unrealistic in terms of expectations? I wouldn't have cared so much if I hadn't paid a premium for this service which I am now questioning. Or is 1 1/2 minutes and slow startup time on the wrist not a big deal for a serviced/regulated watch, and should I just have it reserviced at my own expense? Thanks all!
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to be similar to the noobfactory V5. Trevors has a much bolder OGEV font, and I have no clue what the 3rd version is!
  18. Some guys at Replica-watch-guide have some theories: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13259
  19. Sadly, a vintage Single Red Seadweller from MBK. Saw this in pictures, and had to have it. Got it, and felt zilch. I still have the watch, and try really hard to love it, but it does absolutely nothing for me in the flesh. Now when I even see the pictures, I'm not sure what I found appealing to begin with. Now my V5 DSSD on the other hand...that makes my heart beat a bit faster. The girlfriend figures its because the DSSD resembles the SRSD, and effectively I got a punier version of the same watch - actually her first words when she saw the SRSD were "Dont you already have that one?". Who knows...
  20. What the DSSD would look like if it took ill-advised steroids...
  21. $60-70k is around what a Cayman S, averagely spec'ed will cost you brand new. Clearly luxury taxes are crazy in Denmark!
  22. Thanks for all your input guys. Finding out about bonuses in the next few weeks, so will hopefully have the money to get a Cayman S. Worried about the design change next yr, but if I can pick one up on the cheap, I might be able to still not lose much. @ watcher and SMC - Thanks for sharing - seems like your experiences have been positive. @ nanuq - thanks, that website helped no end! @ chefcook, thanks for taking the time to type that first hand review. Great overview of the options available to me, and which would add value. Thanks again!
  23. I'm going to MBK later this week, and I've heard that the one thing to get there is a vintage rollie (unfortunately other reps there are apparently lower end - if I'm wrong, please do let me know ); was wondering if anyone knew of any double reds or comex rolexes that had the tophat crystal (which I think looks incredible)? PRetty stupid noob question, I know, but any info would help :-) Thanks all!
  24. Hmmm....theres a dealer in MBK who has been recommended as selling good stuff if you really push him. Unfortunately the only watches I know really well are the ones I already own! No chance of picking up the new batch of super-reps, I imagine...
