KHAD
First post on RWG! have been lurking for a while though... I can't post any links for now. I will update my post later. Since there was a lot of enthusiasm regarding the "out of the box" Omega Railmaster Aqua Terra, particularly for the 1st generation with silver rotor, I gave it a try. I bought the ETA-2836-2 version from Silix, which was showing pictures of the 1st gen on his website (OMES041). I received a different model/generatiom than expected, with the following differences (see attached picture) 1) Rotor now looks more like the gen, but there is too much text. It reads, horizontally, like this : 1120 - OMEGA - SWISS MADE. Still, I think it looks better than the gold rotor and the silver rotor engraved with "TWENTY-FIVE 25 JEWELS SWISS MADE". I have seen this rotor on Trusty's website and few other dealers only. 2) Caseback is poorly engraved, with different holes also. It reads : Constel ; Lation (the word is actually separated between the holes!) ; Co-Axial Escapement ; 100 m / 300 ft OMEGA. It is very poorly engraved, and makes the caseback a lot less interesting than the other ones to me... 3) Strap quality is OK. Deployment clasp is of poor quality, with poorly engraved OMEGA logo only; it uses a "pin-hole" system instead of the "press and release" system 4) Dial seems very similar to other pictures I have seen, except the 2 in "12" which looks kind of fat. I will upgrade this post later with other pictures and links, if possible. Hence, I was wondering what were my options with the ugly caseback since I have not found any gen or rep available up to now. What would you suggest? I could go with the vintage caseback, but no where to be found... Also, the gen bracelet with deployment clasp is quite expensive, would you suggest something else, like Hirsch, for example? It is the first time I encouter this particular rep, with more flaws than previous version, except for the rotor which is a little bit upgraded. I contacted Silix about it, but I am wondering if I should send it back in HK (and I am not sure it is possible to get the advertised older gen. Railmaster....) or simply mod it. Thank you guys! I am waiting for your suggestions... -Maxime
FxrAndy
There have always been two versions of the railmaster, the one with the thick numerals like you have and Unfortunaly (for you) the better version with the thinner numerals this one had the correct case back and great lume, and was a stunner on the bracelet I keep thinking of getting another as i have 90% of the gen movement to build a great franken

KHAD
@ Rolexman : indeed a very nice dial and a lot more accurate caseback. I wish I could buy my inaccurate parts from him. @ FxrAndy : it's even worse than Constellation... it says Constel on one part of the watch and Lation with a capital L juste accross the hole. I Here are a couple of better pictures I just took : "Constel Lation" "Fat 2" Please help me fix the caseback and strap : ) -Maxime Edited July 1, 2011 by KHAD

KHAD
@ signumboy : it seems more frequent than I thought, I haven't noticed it before your comment, but it is discordant on most models!
ryaku
Send it back if you're picky enough. I personally couldn't live with that dial.

cougar1
Yep the thin numbered one is a classy rep, not sure sure on the other variations...harder to get the thin numbered one these days though!
KHAD
Finally, I decided to brush the caseback on my own and hence remove the inaccurate lettering. I prefer a blank caseback to an inaccurate one. I talked with Silix, and they don't think it is possible to get the actual watch (and too complicated to send it back, with shipping fees along with customs...), and they agreed to send me a replacement bracelet with a better looking clasp (they will also send "a surprise"...). I will show you more pictures when it arrives. I still consider finding another caseback and dial. Let me know what you think! -Maxime

KHAD
Just an update... I have yet to hear news about the strap Silix offered me, it was returned to them a couple of weeks ago... no news since. Anyway, I bought a gen bracelet and buckle, a little bit different though, and I finished the case back. Still looking for a replacement caseback though, I am looking on eBay from time to others. Let me know what you think! Better resolution : http://imgur.com/a/WF09L Cheers.
