Absent buying an older EL for a lot of money there should be a new version coming out shortly so I would wait for that one before doing anything. EL refers to Eddie Lee , he was a dealer from a few years ago who was able to source 1:1 cases at times or very close to 1:1 cases, his dials and crown guards were very close as well, although certain versions were better than others.. StormTooper4 Posted July 13, 2011 Report Share Posted July 13, 2011 I really wouldn't waste your time on the EL 127 mythology , yes they my be front loading but they movements were so wrong and who wants to go through nonsense of removing the bezel , and then swapping the movement over, just so they can say they can Whoop Woooo. Angus may have this 1950 and it has a very good looking and correct movement. Or try DSN and here They might not be available but its worth a try as they are very good watches , a Modded EL will be an expensive watch and if the rumours of a new 127 are true an unwise investment . Trusty is a bit over priced given the movement . If you really want a good 127 you will need to replace the movement. That's the first thing people will want to see. The front loading El cases will be preferable if you want a good rep. I see that the plates are engraved, and then a sunburst radiating from the central jewel is machined into the plates, and that the gears' teeth are beveled and polished.
