Sticky balls

Recommended Posts

God I cannot believe I'm posting this but here's a noob question. I have just received via eBay a sticky ball case opener. How does it work. I had assumed that you squeezed it and slapped it on the caseback where vacumn pressure gripped it but this isn't happening. It fact I cannot squeeze the ball at all no matter how much pressure i apply so do I have a duff valve on mine?

Cannot believe I can't work a sticky ball. The shame.

I've tried that already but no joy. Perhaps I'm not meant to work on the inside of a watch (especially if I can't puncture a valve with a needle). At least I can use it as a toy for my dog. Cheaper than pets at home.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I'll grab some scotch tape from work and try that instead.

Now which side of the tape fo I apply to the watch ...

You're not alone, I never did get mine to open anything either. For Rolex cases, I have an LG Openall opener. Not real cheap but not super expensive.Got mine on ebay nicely discounted. I justified getting one because I have several Rolex reps, the LG never once made a mark on the caseback and I have all them nice and snug tight.

Sticky balls and tape only open watches that weren't properly closed!

The manufacturers, and others, make specialist tools to open case backs, and for the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would risk an expensive watch by trying to use some makeshift method.

I would defy anyone with a sticky ball or tape, to open a watch which has been properly "nipped up" with the correct tool.!
