Telling fake from real

Most of the hints given would benerif from some more detail, but interesting nonetheless.

The gold hallmark tell mentioned at the end is a common one to the rep world. In far too many cases the rep makers get this totally wrong.

Recently I have seen the Blue Ceramic Submariner without hallmarks. This is supposed to be a white gold watch. Conversely I have seen a Green Ceramic Submariner with hallmarks. This is supposed to be in steel.

In far too many Gold reps there are no hallmarks at all. That is a shame as it is the sort of thing anyone can see if they know nothing about the specific watch but a little about precious metals.

Not sure what point #4 is referring to regarding the "petina"(?) on the dial...

Patina refers to how something looks when it is old. Wood .. paint ... plastic ... it all looks different as it gets older. It develops a patina. "the look of age"
