chrgod Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 I bought this old framed document in a Vintage-store some years ago.. Can anyone tell me what it is? The stamp is marked "Bureau of Public Safety - City Government of Shanghai". I assume it is somekind of Visa for a Norwegian Sailor.
subbiesrock Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 Sweet! I'm sure someone can translate this for you. Worst case, you can have it officially translated by a language expert, they should be available online.
jcagara08 Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 it looks to me as if it is japanese though
Jkay Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 That would make perfect sense, since Shanghai was occupied by the Japanese army during the timeframe of this document .. Fist of Legend, anyone?
slooowr6 Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 It's a document issued to a Norwegian as a temporary passport/visa so he can catch his boat by train. The paper said the Norwegian is the second mate but he missed the ship and need to catch the ship by train at it next port. The date is 9/7/1932.
