The crown was hanging on just thread for ages and now its gone Ive just received the Davidsen replacement but i cant figure out how to remove the old crown tube from the case Has anyone done this and can shed some light on it Any help is much appreciated Thanks Joe Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is pretty easy since the old one is useless, I take a pair of pliers and just move it back and forth a few times and you should feel give, these are not screwed in like some. To put the new one in, I put it in place and just press the case really hard with the case tube on a table, you will feel it "click" into place. Make sure the movement has been removed. good luck. geo1nah2a Posted June 26, 2007 Report Share Posted June 26, 2007 Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but I don't like starting completely new threads: I am interested in replacing the crown tube of my almost striped 183. I am thinking of ordering the tube from cousinsuk.com since I have already an order pending. Anybody has measurements for the tube? Chris5264, since you have received and placed yourself more than one, is there any chance you can help me out? I am thinking of keeping the existing crown, and using only the tube. I know I could measure it myself, but I am trying not to destroy the 183 old tube before I get the new one. And, is there anyone with a measurement of the sapphire of the 183?
