Calling All Pam Experts

Hi guys,

I'm afraid I might have been bitten by the Pam bug - as if Rolex and Brietling and Vacheron and IWC and Omega isn't enough...God help me now...In the words of a very funny friend of mine: "I need this like a second ass..."

Anyway, I have narrowed down my first PAM purchase to a 183. My question is that I need some solid intelligence on the G vs. H series and the gens they represent. Obviously, the movements are decorated differently. It seems the the H is the latest decoration version from gen PAM's? Any thoughts on why you would want one or the other? Also, I remember The Zigmeister talking about a problem with some versions of the 6497 movements. Obviously the swan neck is the way to go, but is the G or H series the problematic one - or do I have it all wrong? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Feel free to PM also if you like.

Rob

I'm sorry.. thought we were talking about PAM 187.

Panerai started with the A series and as they completed each issue, moved on to the next letter and released again. After G, the Panerai Panerai Panerai decoration was changed to the CDG decoration.

I would not stress about it too much. For all the Panerai's we have purchased, there are still plenty of flaws to be found on their reverse.

Thanks, but what about the movement issue? The Zigmeister was saying something about a batch of these movements from some new watches that had swan neck problems and were not actually ETA's, etc... Was that on the H series or does anyone else have these watches and any info on this?

Why chose to lose your virginity to a porn star when you can have akward sex with the girl next door instead?

I could not help but notice that Linder is from Arkansas.... The girl next door is likely a relative in need of shoes and dental care :bleh:

Note (for the sensitive). Just joking around. If offended... please unread. :black_eye:

When you buy a 183, you have to worry a little bit of the crown thread issue that has been discussed. It has been reported that some members have stripped the crown thread, and the movement no longer works. But I think you can now get replacement from Davidsen. I think as far as the movement, you need to buy the seller, and not the watch. If you have a good seller, then he can guarantee you will get a swiss versus asian and after sale service as well, if something comes up. Hope that helps.

However, with all the Payless Shoe stores around, it means the shoeless neighbor girls are quite easy to bargain with and a cheap source for sex! :Jumpy:

The problem movements were some of the non H series non CDG decorated movements. If you study the pictures enough you can pick out which G series movements are okay and which were not but worse case, any watchmaker can correct the issue is it comes up.

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys. I'm also noticing that AR isn't around on the 183 but is on the 111. Maybe I will go in that direstion. Any things I should know about there? I assume there is a G and H series here as well. From what I can tell in all models the G series has the hundreds of logos across the bridges and the H series are decorated cotes de geneve'? I'm sure PT or Eddie will have the good stuff...

The G series 111 has a 'sausage dial' and ERAIPANERAIPAN bridge engravings and the 111 H has CdG engraving and a sandwich dial. I've recently ordered the Swiss 111H from Josh and have a 183 G/H hybrid from PT (a G series dial and case and H series Swiss movement!) luckily the 183 has decent crown threads.
