Advice on a Gen 16800.

Hi guys,

I am contemplating a Gen purchase of 16800. I know the matte dial are fetching a bit more $. What about the transitional one with the metal surroundings? Should I look for one with box and papers? What do you think about this one? Is it a fair price for one?

I wouldn't buy off fleabay, especially from someone with such little feedback... check the gen Rolex forums for a trusted seller

I agree about holding off. Maybe you can find something in the $4K range. Vintage Rolex Market, Rolex Forum and Timezone are good places to look.

yeah all id go to timezone or rolex forums. Also, id get one with a matte dial so it really looks like a transitional piece

If you go for a 16800, I'd definitely buy a matte version. They are still pretty affordable but if you ever decide to part with it again, there's a far greater demand for them than for those with WG surrounds.
