Cats
I've been wearing my GMT II form BKLM lately and noticed that the 24 hr hands is lacking behind the hours hand at least 5 minutes a day. For example after 3 days the 24 hours hand shows 11:45 whilst the hour hands shows 12:00. Does anyone experienced the same with his BKLM. Is there a solution for this issue with the current movement or should try to find a genuine ETA GMT movement. Thanks for your advise. valerian
Hi Cats Never noticed anything like this before. But I will give it a closer look and report back. Kind regards Val.
Watchmeister
Is it the same 5 minutes signifying the gmt hand has slipped or is it worsening 5 minutes every day?
Cats
Maybe i wasn't clear but it is worsening 5 minutes a day. I always set every hand at 12 o'clock and then set the time Carpe Diem Cats
RWG Technical
It's simply a matter of these modified basterdized GMT movements being poorly made. Sounds like your GMT gear is simply sliping that's all, there is no fix and you can't upgrade to an ETA, so basically you have to live with it. If you move only the GMT hand, can you get it to line up, the GMT hand moves independently and there are notches and a detent that seats it in place, what happens if you move the GMT hand to a new position on the dial, does it slip, or does it track...it may only be this particular position that is defective. sneed12
Sounds like your GMT gear is simply sliping that's all, there is no fix There are a few things you can try, and one 99.999% effective fix... I've had good luck with trying a different GMT gear (that assumes you've torn down enough of them to have spares lying around, though) it often fixes the problem. If that doesn't work, you can remove the independent adjustment mechanism (the little gear that's installed where the day wheel flipping paddle would usually go) and glue the GMT wheel together so it's all one piece. Then it can't slip. A bit drastic but it always works.
Cats
Thanks for all your replies. I'll ask my watchsmith if he can do the modd as Sneed12 discribed. It may sound silly but it bothers me that it looses 5 minutes per day. Carpe Diem Cats
