woof*
You mean a gen triple six? Big pockets
simonporsche
I love the sea dweller, had my name down for a wm9, infact bk still hold my deposit, but just keep waiting for a decent rep as gen prices keep rising. Then I saw the 16660 and fell in love.
asf
I love the 16660. Do it
Heywood
It looks like the case back has some serious corrosion, I'd be worried about possible water intrusion. If the price is right you could always send it out to Rolex for a service and have the caseback replaced.

I think thats just the old gasket gunk
simonporsche
Yeah that will be the gunk and possible a bit of the now dry gasket, it's not be serviced since purchase ('84), so s service will be needed. If I sent it to Rolex would they do anything stupid like change the hands or dial?
tabularasa415
You can send it with specific instruction. For instance, I wanted service papers for a watch I knew was gen, but didn't have the paperwork for -- I sent the watch in and sent specific instructions to service the movement only. In your case, you could send it in for service and possible caseback replacement if deemed defective, but not to touch anything else.
simonporsche
Sounds good, I'll price in a service, last one I had was about £500 with a bezel change.

simonporsche
How much do you think is a fair price (in US$)? All paperwork, box etc in need of a service, little stretch on braclet and what you see in pics.
woof*
There's a very nice one on VRF right now for 4850$ http://www.vintagerolexforum.com/

simonporsche
Found it! It's nice, but it's the matte dial that's doing if for me.
EMM
Found it - the DW looks really odd in those pics. Like it has too much bevel. And the DW font looks like the newer style.

Ephry73
How about the polished HEV?
simonporsche
The watch has been used as intended, the engraving is in reference to a marine company and it was used by their diver apparently. Explains the wear I guess. I've also been told its never been serviced, there's a date on the inside of the CB which refers to 1989, am I right? simonporsche
Still on the look out for a reasonably priced triple 666, but looks like I may need to buy on with no box or papers to get within my budget. What's your views on the risk of that? Also here's a link to one I have my eye on. Any feed back is greatly appreciated. If getting a 16660 isn't going to happen then I'm going to look at getting a 16600 instead. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390398224949?redirect=mobile#ht_5100wt_689
duke1973
Going with a 16600 will save you some cash, the triple 6 commands a higher price. I've seen some go for upwards of $10k!
