spock
Usefull information about the crowns. When someone is willing to order these crowns they must give specs about the movement such as Unitas or Eta. Also is it a copy version yes or no. Michael needs this information. Dani you can not ask for photos's. That man is to busy with my Fiddy.
ubiquitous
What I find interesting is how the 44mm crowns seem to be so difficult to reproduce, yet the crown on the Fiddy, which doesn't look any less technical to produce, is done perfectly. Watchmeister
My guess is that the real problem is that few manufacturers (read as one does) have the proper 6 axis machinery necessary to cut the teeth and bevel precisely (that one was for you Archibald). swdivad
I would think that these crowns are broached rather than milled (the same process as making gears), it is much more cost effectine and leaves a better finish between the teeth. This may be why they are so difficult to create by milling, the tool has to come to a very sharp point and stay sharp after cutting many parts. A broach would remain sharp for a much longer time. These could be created perfectly by broaching, and I'm willing to look into getting them made by this method if someone is able to provide me with engineering drawings of the crown.
