clkcadet Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 I hear the retail is about 4k US for the black bay. I have some "carribean connections" so I am really going to consider this watch!
superlative Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) I hear the retail is about 4k US for the black bay. I have some "carribean connections" so I am really going to consider this watch! $4k for a watch with a generic Swiss movement in it. With $4k, I could buy a used gen Rolex Sub, Explorer or GMT II. its_urabus Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Or a gen vintage Tudor rose for a little more than $4k! I like pieces/ parts of each of these, but not either of them as a complete watch. I do love the Tudor buckle on the NATO strap. I will have to grab one for the 7016/0!
TeeJay Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I like the pelagos, and the black bay isn't bad, but the black bay looks more like an assortment of spare parts which were assembled, rather than an intentional new design like the advisor, or a revision of an exising design, like the pelagos or the Heritage chrono
TeeJay Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Oh man, the gears are grinding - I feel a strong urge to do something blasphemous... Do it!!! :tu: One of your Rose dial decals with the markers from a regular Sub dial, and you'll be on the money
jmb Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Red insert is on it's way from HK! The markers look "maxi" so I will be recycling a maxi 14060 dial and a 7924 decal scaled to 28mm to make this...
Tucker Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I love that Pelagos. It's got a clean and classic look to it. Has anyone figured out a price?
Tucker Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 That's what I get for posting before reading the entire thread. $4k isn't bad at all when compared to some of the new Rolex subs.

Ephry73 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 The pelagos is definitely very very nice. Both this one and the Tudor Heritage are nice. I wonder if one can take a 2892 movement to a quartz rep and have the best of both for fairly cheap. E
Ronin Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 I do like them. I also agree, the Tudor designers are kicking the Rolex designers ass from an appearance perspective. Looking at the Pelagos though, something was nagging at me.... Where have I seen that "chapter ring / recessed indicie" before? Hmmm Chapter ring cut-outs for plots... Even the Red insert on the Black Bay reminds of an "Orient Mako". Similarly on the Rolex side the new Exp II with it's super Maxi style has a Seiko esq feel to it. I swear Rolex/Tudor either has x-Seiko designers on staff or something... Still, the Pelagos makes the DSSD look like a pile of steaming crap. That should be the base for a new Rolex Sea-Dweller IMHO.
Watchmeister Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 I think these are both great although I am not loving the red crown tube. It does feel like Tudor is "out-Rolexing" Rolex. A ti with He valve in a 41 or 42mm size is an awesome idea. And now they can do different case sizes? WIll wonders never cease.
TeeJay Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Still, the Pelagos makes the DSSD look like a pile of steaming crap. That should be the base for a new Rolex Sea-Dweller IMHO. The DSSD manages to do that all on its own without any help Jokes aside, totally agree about using it as an SD base, and the Seiko styling, I thought that when I first saw it as well
Ronin Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 This new video makes me want one. This is "The Sea-Dweller" IMHO. Rolex-- get a clue! All Rolex needs to do is change the plots to dots, and add Mercedes hands.
kristy Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Rep this watch Plsssssssssssss http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391/thread/1346528153/OT-+Pelagos+arrived....Rep this watch Plsssssssssssss http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391/thread/1346528153/OT-+Pelagos+arrived....
tmg Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 I think Tudor has hit home runs with the entire heritage line. Where else can you get a new gen no crown guard sub with gilt dial off the shelf.
