ninjagaiden
Guys, I made a new friend at work and got him sold on the beauty of a good mechanical watch. He got some inheritance money and has just got himself a gen Longines hydroconquest sub. Previously he wore a titanium beater with no problems, but since his pride and joy arrived his wrist is all blotchy. Is there anything you can coat the bracelet / caseback with to reduce the reaction? Thx
duke1973
He will probably have to stick with Titanium, it's hypoallergenic. I've read of these allergic reactions before and I've never read of a solution. He'll have to stay with Ti.
archierocks
he could be allergic to either the metal mix in the watch or if he has had it polished depending on him he could be allergic to the polish or rouge used best thing is to strap it down and put the bracelet and watch back in an ultra sonic to clean off any thing and then dry it proper and try from there
japanic
A possible option is to have the caseback coated with ceramic or plated with white gold with rhodium in the alloy. Rhodium is hypoallergenic. I am not certain of the chemistry in regards to the ceramic, but it should put a layer of material between the watch and the wrist. URkuk
Have your friend pick up a tube of Vanicream. It is available online for about 10 bucks. It is a hypoallergenic skin cream. Apply it to the wrist before wearing the watch. My wife has allergies and it works wonders for her.. It is light and odorless. For 10 bucks it's worth a shot.. VesperMatt
http://www.thegentlemenscorner.com/the-gazette/2012/02/the-flamboyant-issue/style-icon-gianni-agnelli Or, I've seen felt like stickers that attach to the case back so skin doesn't make contact. They're kind of like those felt pads that go under furniture.

ninjagaiden
Thanks for the advice guys. Will suggest the caseback clean to get of the rouge, and the hypoallergenic cream. The Agnelli look won't work if you like short shirt sleeves! N
andreww
Nickel is a common problem for some people, and stainless steel has a high nickel content.
