Going to NYC for first time

I own a few gens, but would love to start getting a few reps. I hope to pass by chinatown and might finally purchase my first rep.

Is this advisable or should I just stay clear of the area?

mostly junk. some of the vendors have good pieces hidden away from the public, you have to ask, and odds are they'll be very cautious. fun to look though

its a great experience we ended up in a flat one of the street vendors with the catalogues took us what a laugh mr mrs bought a few bags but that was it

So just browse around.

If I do find a Tag that I like, is there anything I should do before purchasing it? I guess just check the weight and eye it so see if it looks OK? But am I to assume that its junk and will break in a week?

Also, what am I looking at spending for a watch there... $100 or so?

I live here and I haven't bought a rep down there in years. Most of its junk, but I did hear of some guy near Lafeyette & Canal

who has some good ones. No harm in looking- but you'd probably do better with our dealers.

I guess I should work with the dealers on the site. I've just been hesitant to deal with customs and what not. I've been lurking this site for years and have never taken the plunge.

Again, mostly junk, but if there's something that you like that can be used as a daily beater - go for it. Havent been to NYC since '04 so not sure if the selection is the same or if even worse.

Go down and browse. Have fun with it.
