Richard Tracy
... or am I the only one ... ? Seems like they take an extra ten minutes at least per day out of my time... and I am on broad band... However if they are profiitable for the board then it's worth it,. though I would rather find alternative ways....
fitmic
To be honest: YES, it slows down browsing. I understand they are there for a purpose, but I've now noticed it's worse than ever.

Admin
Personally, the ads does not slow down my browsing (using Opera and I just checked with IE and FF). I'd be interested to know if anybody else is having this problem? I will, no matter what, look at the script used to rotate the ads and check if that is where the problem lies. If this is the case, I wiln a new ads-system in the next "version" of RWG

Everythingape
I don't notice it being any slower at home on a 4Mb line, but posting when I am on the boat, on the satellite connection, takes forever now!
ratchpot
I'm on an 8Mbit line and I find the pages on the site have been loading quite slowly recently. Quite often the pages get stuck at "waiting for ads.rwg.cc" for around 30 seconds, and sometimes for up to a few minutes. I use Firefox.
Admin
Ok, I will look into this as soon as possible. I won't have the time to change the ad serving script until later, but I will most certainly see if the current code can be optimized.

jonthebhoy
JTB, I upgraded to IE7 and it for sure runs quicker and smoother... Plus the Tabs in a single window are awesome... TT Ads are no longer slowing down the loading of pages. Would members please remember to click on a few from time to time as this will, in the longer term, help the board. I clicked on some today and boy do I feel good about it. JTB
archibald
Ads are no longer slowing down the loading of pages. JTB They still are for me, but I think it's more noticeable on slower connections. Down in my office w/ cable I don't notice much difference, but on my laptop's slow ass wireless conncetion there is a big difference since the latest upgrade. Being the loyal RWGer that I am I still click the ads even when I'm on the laptop...
